" m e e t i n g   o f   d e m o n s "

It was advertised to be an evening to end all grand evenings. Selina Kyle found herself cordially invited, & although the relationship between she and Bruce Wayne was...complicated, to say the least, she still willfully accepted. After all, she considered the brood of boys to be her little birds. Each with their own unique, resounding spirits. She admired them all.

Dressed to the nines, the woman failed to don her usual nightwear. In fact, she was totally out of her usual element. Gotham City was where she lived and where she thrived. An alter ego cleverly spawned from her love of black cats that strut the alleyways under the moonlight, Catwoman was a feline fetale that did as she pleased once the sun set. Much like a wild kitten. No rules, no boundaries, and nowhere to really go. Wherever she roamed, her lithe frame clad in a skin-tight catsuit managed to squeeze into the smallest spaces, allowing her to snatch whatever goodies would catch her peering green eyes.

Tonight, of course, she promised to be good.

Metropolis was a city Selina was familiar with, but one she frequented far less often. The stomping grounds of the famous Superman--Clark Kent by day--Catwoman could hardly get anything past that X-ray vision, super speed, and un-human strength. Besides, she’d never go toe-to-toe with the superhero. There was an unspoken respect for him, & though he & Bruce squabbled at times...

“Good evening, darlings,” Selina purred at a couple of passers-by who managed to engage her in some light chatter.

She would be good tonight.

Even if the Cat wanted to keep the peace between she & the Man of Steel, there was another important reason why she wouldn’t soil this special evening.

Nodding along while haphazardly listening to small talk, her emeralds focused on the exquisite details that surrounded her. Bruce liked to have stylish and luxurious gatherings, and this would be no different. It was no surprise that the man would go all out for his Blood Son.

Damian Wayne, often the talk of the family and the current serving Robin, was a handful and sometimes a difficult person to engage with. Selina found this endearing--there was a lot of herself that she spotted in the young man. Growing before her eyes, the once small spitfire was blooming into a teenaged ball of snark. His comebacks and sarcasms often made her snicker, though she needed to don a serious face when Damian managed to wear on what little composure Bruce managed to have left.

It was his birthday, and the Cat wouldn’t miss it for the world. & while he may not have fully accepted her as a part of the self-proclaimed Batfamily quite yet--they were growing closer by the days. She could only hope they would continue to evolve and form a bond unlike one she’s ever had with anyone.

The son she’s never had. At least not yet.

“Excuse me, I must be going. It was lovely chatting with you, dears.” Selina excused herself, offering royal hugs and cheek kisses for the couple, shimmying her way through the gathering in an attempt to spot any familiar faces.

Her outfit turned heads as she pushed through the elegant crowd. Never one to conform to the unspoken rules of the wealthy, Selina was decidedly considered new money. Her lipstick was painted a bright red, a stark contrast to the golden hues of her entirety--a dress that stopped above the knees, and perhaps draped too far as ample cleavage was on prominent display. Her stilettos matched, 24k gold in appearance while so slinky and a heel so thin it seemed that the woman was walking on air. Her clutch was designer, also golden in tone, shimmering against the lights that gave the party its rich glow.

“Where is he?” Bruce was nowhere to be found, & Selina desired to hang off of his arm like a trophy for the rest of the night. Eyes intent on focusing on another found themselves instead upon a face she didn’t recognize--that still seemed oddly familiar.

Selina was far too overdressed to lurk for curiosity’s sake. & while she knew practically all that graced the confines of this event, something about this one seemed...off.

The kitten abandoned her trek to find her Bat, instead deciding to pretend to be social--to watch the whereabouts of this unfamiliar girl. If there was anything Selina knew...if you don’t go out looking for trouble?

Trouble will find you.

It was better to confirm there was no threat, rather than ignore a street cat’s gut instinct.

Taking up yet another casual, mundane conversation with a man who seemed far too interested in her breasts than what spewed from her mouth, Selina used the other to walk around with, to chat with, while keeping close tabs on this mystery woman. Beautiful, elegant in her own way--as if she were royalty all on her own. & her face...seemed so oddly familiar. Where had she seen it before?

What stunned Selina was the secretive scouting and further bold approach of this woman to hand over what seemed like a card. Of congratulations, of best wishes--perhaps. But coming from a world where one always expects the worse while hoping for the best, she took no chances.

The abrupt exit was all she needed to further confirm any proof that something was off. Selina properly excused herself from the dull company she had and hurriedly made it for the exit--heels clacking against the marble tile all the way, cutely coiffed mane bouncing with her stride. Once through the gallery doors a blast of cool night air encompassed the Cat’s frame, and she inhaled a deep breath of it. She was back in her element, in her zone.

Selina hadn’t had to chase anyone in an evening gown in years. But if she had to, she would.

Sitting in a cast of a deep amber glow, Selina Kyle felt as if she were living in a cliche mobster film. The room the pair occupied was decorated with gaudy Victorian furniture, the color scheme being gold of antiquity's sake with mahogany and crimson accents. A bit much, but who was she to judge a rich man’s taste (or lack thereof) regarding his interior design? She was only there for a single reason.

Give or take a little red wine to socialize over.

Selina was in costume, as she often was when she met with these types. Her name and notoriety was passed around the streets here and there--tales of her exploits overseas, snatching relics right under the noses of elite museum curators. There wasn’t a job Catwoman wouldn’t do, if the price were right. If it meant playing the fence and deciding what was most beneficial for her well-being...then...

“Five hundred and fifty thousand. Wired tonight. Internationally, obviously.” The Cat was direct in her business dealings. There was no need to beat around the bush. She was vouched for and her reputation preceded her.  A heist required intense pre-planning, not to mention nerves of steel to go where the intended target was.

“Half upfront,” the stocky figure countered, his body obscured in the shadows of the den, away from the dreadful light that illuminated the room only partially.

“Five hundred. Fifty thousand.” Curavaceous legs crossed, her body language confident. “Tonight.” Repeating her demand so he’d understand that she wasn’t one to be trifled with. Toying with superheroes would be a ballgame she wasn’t anxious to get into, but for that kind of money it’d be well worth the risk. The nanochip Selina was tasked with snatching may seem insignificant at first glance, but it contained several terabytes of useful data--data that could be sold on the Black Market in not just Gotham...but anywhere. Catwoman would potentially put in danger all sorts of classified information--from secret identities, to heroes' files which would spell out all sorts of vulnerabilities.

For half a million, Selina Kyle didn’t bat an eye.

The man grunted. Not new to the criminal underworld, he knew he wouldn’t be able to convince her otherwise. Catwoman’s lips smirked as she brought her glass of wine to the pair of plump tiers--her silent victory as the boss finally relented. “Send her the money,” he ordered a goon who happened to keep them company--the faithful idiot nodded, leaving the two alone as he’d go to consult whoever was in charge of wire transfers.

“Your forward way of doing business is appreciated,” Catwoman purred, settling the crystal glass to the side as she stood to make her exit.

“One week. One week or I’ll find you myself and skin you.” A threat not thinly veiled, Selina resisted the urge to roll her emerald eyes to the ceiling in annoyance.

“Have I ever let you down?” she replied, stepping into the direct glow of the lone lamp. It was a rather pretentious question, given the two had never worked together before. Her expression was sinister, accentuated by the highlighting of her furrowed brows and catty eyes. “Three days is all I need.” Without another word, Catwoman slipped out of the window she made her grand entrance in. Several stories from the ground, the Cat made a death-defying leap.

A familiar, loud crack echoed in the midst of the midnight air. Cats always land on their feet.

Selina wrapped the end of her bullwhip around a sturdy awning, using her momentum to swing to a neighboring building. She scaled the side skillfully, releasing her weapon and holstering it back around her waist once flat upon the top of the tower of cement and bricks. A soft vibrating at her bosom made her retrieve her phone, and the notification was one that she expected, but nonetheless made her grin.

Pending transfer. 550k. Funds available next day.

“Purrrrrr-fect,” Catwoman said, reveling in her own kitty puns. Everything was going as planned so far. Still, there was so much she didn’t know about this mysterious mobster. She’d need to prod a bit to find out what his solid plans would be with the said nanochip. Every villain had their intentions, their supposed purpose. And while the kitten liked to keep her grounds neutral and remind herself that she was the only important party that mattered, this little task did involve backstabbing someone she’d come to care about far too deeply.

Tucking her Wayne Enterprises-branded smartphone back into the pocket at the breasts, her grin faded into a grimace. No sign of the Bat, at least not yet. Selina figured she could make it back to her loft and graze over those Watchtower blueprints she obtained by illegitmate means.

Catwoman made a mad dash to the other end of the architecture and an artful backward flip over its edge. She’d worry about the hard stuff later.

" a    p r o p o s i t i o n"

“Tut, tut. Don’t rip Mama’s blueprint, kitten.” The cat in question moseyed over to the woman’s makeshift work space upon the carpet, stretching its paws and claws while standing upon vital paper. Selina Kyle scratched the curious creature’s head, then pat an alternative place for the feline to settle while she studied.

In the thick of Gotham City, when the moon was high and the streets were pretty quiet, Selina was known as the infamous Catwoman. A skilled thief with many an arrest warrant, Catwoman made her living pilfering the rich and sometimes stealing just for the heck of it. It was a way to survive for as long as she could remember, and now her thieving was more of a hobby than anything else. Occasionally a lucrative offer would come her way--how could she resist an easy payday?

Here, though, in her small loft surrounded by a few of her trusted kitty cats...she was simply Selina Kyle. A woman casually dressed in matching cat-print pajamas. A woman who enjoyed sipping from her glass of red wine. A woman who planned every single move she executed on the outside.

With a sole lamp focused on the papers scattered about her floor, Selina eyed various forms of information. The largest was the blueprint--a diagram that mapped out a potential building she had her eye on for looting. She needed to memorize it inside and out, to learn every single possible point of entry and exit. Other papers detailed notable people who frequented the building, information on important items contained inside. Notable files, deeds, and contracts.

The Cat was always very, very prepared.

She held a Sharpie in her hand, twirling it about as the wheels of her mind turned with the processes of her planning. “If I go here...maybe I can crawl through...here...” As she spoke, she marked the blueprint, her words meant for the cat who seemed somewhat interested in her musings. All the while her smartphone buzzed, insisting on breaking her concentration at hand. After the fiftieth buzz, Selina relented with a groan and grabbed the device.

Selina expected the notifications to yield from none other than the Gotham City Sirens group chat. She, Harley, and Ivy had their own text chat where they kept each other up-to-date on important and relevant information. Most of the time, though, the chat would be filled with memes from the jokestress herself.

Her fingertips swiped at the reinforced glass, tapping apps and checking random messages. The phone she held was a Wayne Enterprises prototype, meant for complete privacy and obscurity. There was no tracking, no hacking, no unauthorized access to worry about. Selina was testing the device for the Bat and his company--sometimes, being entangled with a billionaire Bat had its perks. She had the ability to communicate with many of those who were rather difficult to reach by normal standards. One of those people?

“Lex...” The name was said with a bit of trepidation. The latest notification was from Luthor, someone she hadn’t had much history with but knew almost everything she needed to. He was never one to contact you unless he desired something from you. Selina wondered what scheme this man was cooking up. If there was anything she knew, Luthor had just as much money--if not more--than Wayne himself. If it paid handsomely, well...she was never one to limit her services. First, she needed to see what he wanted. Her fingers tapped away at a response, prompting the other to invite her elsewhere to discuss the details discreetly.

" j o y e u s e "

Oh, how foolish.

Undoubtedly, some rich old cod pulled several strings to have the great Joyeuse exhibited at Gotham’s Central Museum of the Fine Arts. There was always a sort of unspoken contest between the wealthy inhabitants of this city. Each tried to outdo the other--whether it be in style, donations, or the like. Who could give the most so that their name could be placed upon new construction that threatened what greenery Gotham had left? Who had the youngest, prettiest woman upon their arm--a trophy to showcase the spoils of their wealth?

Selina Kyle found it sickening.

Most of the time, it served her no purpose. It wasn’t too easy to impress her, given her acquaintanceship with Gotham’s richest poster boy, Bruce Wayne. He could outdo the best of them, though given his unique situation the man usually chose to keep a low profile.

If there was anything Selina knew best, it was that Bruce would never do something like this. Have a priceless artifact sponsored in his metro, within reach of the paws of the world’s most elite cat burglar.

At least she wouldn’t have to face that stern look of disappointment and guilt later. He had nothing to do with the showcasing of Charlemagne's legendary sword in the museum. Sure, Bruce may suspect that Selina would be behind its disappearance, but he’d have no definitive proof unless he'd caught her in the act himself.

Selina followed the movement of this sword, from its initial proposal at a fancy charity gala, to its final confirmation and subsequent movement from overseas. It didn’t take much for her to keep track of it--in fact, that was one of her strengths. The sly woman would take on the role as a socialite named Irena Dubrovna--there was no definitive backstory, only that she was very wealthy, well-traveled, and loved handsome, rich men. The very same men were easily enamored by her persona, letting details slip from their tongue after several glasses of champagne and promises of a good time that never came to fruition.

After catching wind of these plans, Selina followed the trail using standard spy tactics. Adept at research, she was able to follow a sloppy paper trail, wiretap a few lines, and perform some mild hacking techniques to read any related email transmissions. Its arrival happened in the span of about a month, slated for display for one week only.

That’s all she needed.

It wouldn’t be the first time Catwoman has plundered this particular museum. The Cat considered herself far more interested in paintings and rare pendants. But this sword...

It was a magnificent piece of history! Beautifully crafted, it graced the hands and beings of those long lost but whose memories decorate pages of history books. How could she resist? It was a risky investment, for sure, and Selina had no plans to keep the thing. That would leave her far too vulnerable. She told herself she’d display it in her humble abode for a day or so, then unload it as she often did with trinkets of such great value.

The lithe costumed kitten shimmied through an air duct that she'd mapped out many times before. The museum’s blueprint was crucial, and with every ordinary leisurely visit Selina kept her eyes and ears peeled for any minute changes in construction, staging, and even placement of security measures. She knew there’d be heavy security presence tonight--one doesn’t leave a historic relic alone simply with an alarm system and security camera.

Taking out the guarded forces took a bit of maneuvering. Selina had to play this like Batman would--silent takedowns. It was a very effective method. No way to alert the others for assistance, Catwoman disposed of them one by one by way of sneaking and swooping. Once sure the coast was generally clear, the Cat tapped a special setting on the pair of goggles that looked more for show than for function. It was quite the opposite--the eye wear could highlight unusual sources of heat, namely coming from human bodies. All of the bits of blob of orange and yellow she could spot lay still were she left them. Good, she thought. Time to move on. Quickly.

The sword was surrounded by a thick casing of glass--the least of her worries. Selina figured there may be invisible safety measures, too. Keen emeralds darted around once she reached the exhibit. Nothing but cameras. Luckily for this well-versed thief, she was able to kill the footage for a total of one hour. No recording, no proof, hardly any suspicion. But she needed to move fast before the systems were back online.

Move swiftly, Selina did. Her steel claws cut a very careful circle, having to repeat the pattern a few times to truly loosen the piece. With a handy suction tool pulled from her bosom, Catwoman removed the glass and settled it to one side. She didn’t want to break anything, to be reckless. No need to make a mess of things.

The grabby paws handled Joyeuse with such ease. My, it was even more gorgeous in person. The glass really muted its beauty, its significance. Selina slid the weapon into a makeshift sheath for protection, then slipped the entire item into a long duffel bag. She heaved a heavy breath of relief. Almost in the clear.

Catwoman replaced the glass she dissected earlier with the same tool. One could barely see the cut it was so pristine. “Time to get out, time to get out,” she muttered, making a slip into the same grate she emerged from. Her next destination? Home. There were no plans to stay out late tonight, and she dreaded the idea of possibly running into Batman. Little did she know there were other eyes on her actions, and perhaps others who coveted the same treasure she now possessed.

challenge 4: your character finds a huge cargo crate filled with child prostitutes. How will your character react and handle the situation?

- - -

There were many things that could never surprise Selina Kyle. With all shed been through in this crazy series of events called life, Selina--tonight donning her alter ego of Catwoman--was stunned at her discovery.

How she wound up in this once-abandoned shipyard was a tale that could mirror any of her conquests in the past. A rather attentive kitty, Selina was privy to the goings-on of Gothams less-than-desireables. Shed catch wind of some sort of new scheme, new racket, or new headquarters. The only goal she ever had in mind was making some sort of profit of her own. Usually the muscle involved were too doltish and easily outwitted. Selina would be long gone before the dons and capos even noticed...

But...this.

Her heart sank. Realization settled in swiftly. The criminal world wasnt one always of glitz and glamour. There were so many disgusting things and equally nauseating people.

Selina spent the vast majority of her livelihood in Gothams East End. The grimiest district in the metropolis, the East End was infamously known for being the area where two of Gothams wealthiest lost their lives in a brutal double homicide. The murders left their only child an orphan, and the sole heir to all their fortune.

While Bruce Wayne wined and dined with the most elite despite the untimely loss, the East End suffered in a rapid decline. Property values, already weak, plummeted. Crime rates were rising at alarming rates and poverty knew nearly everyone who resided in the community. Gangsters and the like made the East End their home for doing business, knowing that the area was barely policed.

Catwoman grew up here, and it was her childhood home. Struggling through her own complications of suddenly becoming parentless, she was forced to grow up much earlier than any normal child. Selina knew quite well what many girls turned to the make a quick buck around here. Sex sells and prostitution was the norm.

But...this.

This wasnt acceptable. Selina didnt know who was behind this racket, but their days were about to be numbered.

What Selina thought would be a gold mine stash of weapons or potentially even the suddenly coveted vibranium--a mineral sourced from a world away--turned out to be exactly the opposite. This space underground was guarded--Catwoman was able to slink inside and subdue the slabs of meat that called themselves skilled forces. The crates were rather large, and already opened at the top. A fresh shipment, she mused to herself, not realizing that once she peeked over the side...

They were all children. Boys and girls, seemingly from all over the globe. Frightened eyes, weary faces, and a pain that no one should bear at such a young age--much less at all.

She swore on her life that shed get them out of here. Every single one of them. Selina needed to find records--names, addresses, even financial documents. It wouldnt be difficult to get access to any encrypted files. She considered herself rather savvy in hacking when need be, if the job werent too complicated. However, the Cat couldnt waste a second more. She needed help with this mission. This couldnt be a task handled by a single cat burglar. There was no telling how many more crates of children would wash ashore, how many more men and women were involved in this. It would also be impossible to simply walk out with dozens of kids in tow. Much too dangerous--and where would they go?

Selina exhaled a shaky breath. Though they always would have their differences, there was one thing that both she and Bruce could agree on. Their definitions of justice were similar, it was the execution of it where Catwoman found they clashed. The kitten wasnt above using guns as a means to subdue her enemies and she was surely not above murder when a situation called for it.

The woman pulls out her smartphone, annoyingly branded by Wayne Enterprises but a handy tool of communication nonetheless. She tapped away via text on an app whose specific use was for coded exchanges.

Bats. Need help. East End at abandoned shipyard. Captured children in danger. URGENT.

Once finished, she slipped the phone back into her bosom. Dont worry, she finally spoke, unsure if they would understand her. Youre going home. Youre all going home.

drabble | riddle me this.

"r i d d l e  m e  t h i s..."

Valentine's Day was an insufferable holiday for those doomed to singledom.

Beginning February 1st--perhaps even a week or two sooner--the moneyed public are bombarded with a variety of ways to show that special somehow just how much you love them. The bigger, more extravagant the gifts, the more you adored them. The loveless?

Well, there was the leftover candy on February 15th. Heavily discounted and a prime opportunity to dull the sting of loneliness by indulging in chocolate that needed to be sold quickly to make room for the next commercial holiday themed candy.

Selina Kyle always hated V-Day. When she was younger it was a holiday she barely acknowledged. Most of her time was spent in unconventional places. She was barely in a traditional grade school after her parents' deaths, so she never had the opportunity of tradition to trade novelty cards with Sweethearts candies. Selina thought hanging out and causing mischief was much more fun than sitting in any high school class...so there was no first official boyfriend. No prom. No homecoming, either.

Adulthood was a whole 'nother realm of disappointment. Between the Catwoman thing and the on-again, off-again co-mingling with the Bat...

Valentine's Day was the proverbial salt in the wound.

The kitten sat cross-legged on her plush king-sized bed, the television on the opposite wall blaring sound. She wasn't really watching TV. It was more for background noise to fill in the void of emptiness in her bedroom that was ironically deafening.

Reaching to the side without the need to glance over, Selina picked up a bottle of red wine. Half-empty. She was a pessimist tonight.

Drowning her woes in alcohol may not have been the most productive thing she's ever done, but she figured it was a fun activity one could do with no compant. She poured what was her third glass. Maybe fourth. Who was keeping count? Returning the bottle to its resting place on the bedside table, the Cat took a lingering sip of her drink. The sip turned into a full-fledged gulp, with the satisfying liquid disappearing within seconds.

Her cats enjoyed her company. Selina couldn't remember a time where she couldn't turn to her pet felines for comfort she couldn't get from any human. They were nonjudgmental--as much as a cat could be. They were warm, fuzzy, and adored snuggling so much that their purrs gave away their delight. As if on cue, a cat or two hopped upon her bed. "Momma's not drunk yet," she assured the small brood. Setting her glass aside Selina hoisted a cat into her arms, nuzzling the creature with affection.

After moments of settling in with the sounds of soft purrs and a Gotham News special, Selina was stirred from her zoning out by the jarring vibration of her smartphone next to her thigh. "Can't I be lonely in peace?" she muttered, reluctantly allowing her cat to slip from her grasp so she could check the text. Her brows raised and the frown that once graced her lips became a smirk. Really? Her thumbs tapped away, replying at the rather mysterious message. The number unknown, but the sender seemed...familiar.

Who is this?

It was a simple reply to a rather extravagant initial message. The beginning of the thread read:

Taking comfort in loneliness isn't a good deal,
when you could be indulging in a delicious meal.
First you need to find me, I've set clues all around--
so get dressed and scurry around Gotham abound.
Your first hint is in your usual home away from home,
where the aroma is strong and you always request extra foam.

The first hint was all too easy. Selina considered herself an aficionado of all things coffee--she lived and breathed for her favorite bitter drink, only second to red wine. Her usual home away from home?

The cute, quaint coffee shoppe only a few blocks away from her loft.

JUST DO IT KITTEN, the unknown sender replied. The Cat giggled to herself. She was almost sure this wasn't a plot cooked up by Nygma himself. The rhyme was too cheesy, and she doubted that he knew about her coffee habits. This narrowed the potential poets down to a few faces...

Selina hopped out of bed, deciding to don street casual clothing instead of a silk nightie going to waste with no eyes to gaze upon it. Once her makeup was in place, her hair presentable, and her clutch in hand, the Cat began her treasure hunt--wondering what this would all lead to. This was certainly a first.

She refilled the cat bowls with their food and water. Dimmed most of the lights, but left the television on. Checked for any detail that may be out of place. Satisfied that she could leave, Selina slipped out of her door--making sure it was locked before her heels clacked down the stairs and out of her towering apartment complex.

Her first stop? The coffee shoppe. If this were a dud, at the very least she'd be able to pick up a latte.

(sexy) sunday morning pt. 1

( s e x y ) s u n d a y | m o r n i n g; (song drabble)

- - -

Sunday morning, rain is falling.

A gentle rumble of thunder startled Selina out of a slumber, announcing the arrival of what she already deemed a lazy day. Sundays were uneventful, with many making it a day of worship, or binging television. Some declared it a feasting day, dedicating the hours to making a home cooked meal. Selina's usual ritual involved curling up on a sofa with a cat and a good book.

This time...

Steal some covers; share some skin.

By now, she realized that she wasn't at home. Last night's events began to flood her mind while her senses were filled with the familiar. A musky cologne--hinting of spice and cedar--infiltrated her nostrils. "Babe?" she murmured, breaking the silence that was muffled only by the sound of rain hitting the paneled windows. Goosebumps prickled her porcelain skin, and by now Selina realized that she was barely under any of the sheets.

A rough sleeper, he'd managed to take hold of most of them in such a vast bed. "Seriously?" she mused, stirring from her position and deciding to invade his sweet personal space. Her poking and prodding of limbs trying to find a good position eventually awakened her partner, who grunted in fuzzy awareness of his surroundings.

Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable...you twist to fit the mold that I am in.

"Good morning," the Cat cooed, her lips so close to his ear that they brushed the skin with the vibration of her speech. Though morning it was, there wasn't a shimmer of sunshine to be found. The day was overcast, thunder rumbled in the distance, and the rain poured. He grumbled a response, instead deciding to change his own position--facing her with an intense, smoldering stare-down. It was simply how he was. The man struggled to tear down the walls that he built around himself, but every now and then he'd remove a brick or two...

"Morning," he replied, simply and concretely. His strong grasp drew Selina even closer, her lithe frame pressed to his so much so that they could almost feel each other's heartbeats. Her limbs, still lazy and desiring to put no effort other than laying about, wrapped around him. Selina hooked a thigh over his body, an arm around his neck. They fit together like a couple of jigsaw pieces.

But things just get so crazy, living life gets hard to do...
& I would gladly hit the road--get up & go if I knew--
that someday it would lead me back to you...

The unofficial couple was giving it a go again. Though they both came from lives that couldn't be more opposite from one another, somehow they were able to mesh well. Selina liked to think of it as fate, though her partner was wary of events that couldn't be logically explained. She didn't have a word for what they were. Both were in their 30s, so the boyfriend / girlfriend thing didn't seem so mature. It was mostly unspoken, but the Cat knew that they were some semblance of a couple. No matter how much time passed between their last meeting. No matter how angry one may be at the other. No matter how much their respective occupations divided them by objective and morals.

That maybe all I need;
in darkness she is all I see...

The way he looked at her drove a kitten wild. It was as if she could feel every inch of her body electrify, anticipating his next kiss, or where his hand may graze next.

Then...there were times when he stared with an expression Selina couldn't describe. It was soft--his normally grave and stoic features settling into something less serious. Contentment, perhaps. Whatever it was, she accepted it with open arms. How rare was it to have the man not even vaguely mention something having to do with work? It was practically a miracle. Selina thanked the heavens, convinced that the rainstorm helped her darling fall victim to the same lack of desire to rise out of bed as she had.

Come & rest your bones with me.

Suddenly, he sat up. The Cat groaned, annoyed that her interlocked position was uprooted. "Hey!" Her protest was cut short as he pulled her into his lap, reclining. His back against the numerous fluffed down pillows and headboard, her back resting against his muscular frame. Selina certainly didn't mind their mild spooning, especially when the arms she loved to squeeze held her close. The grating of wind and water against the glass panes didn't let up, but that didn't deter their moment. Her eyes fluttered to close, feeling the remnants of rest trying to capture her again. Selina didn't fight it.

Driving slow on Sunday morning,
& I never want to leave.

worldbuilding !

hey y'all--it's meeeeeeee again! -generic YouTube-esque intro.-

i'm supposed to be writing drabbles, but yet again i'm kind behind & still trying to catch up with replies,
so i thought i'd put up another pro writing tip for those seeking to get better in their skill--
whether for role playing or just regular-schmegular creative writing.

W O R L D B U I L D I N G.

what's that, you say?
you're probably already familiar with this, especially since most of you have been role playing for a long time.

worldbuilding is creating "worlds" or universes,
& all the things that are within that world.
for example,
you can create a planet,
then assign that planet characters (specific races / animals),
flora, currencies, countries, then cities--
the possibilities are endless.

keeping up with your world(s) can be hard. it's usually expansive and never-ending, the more that you add on to it. & that's what makes your world great! you can do whatever you want. you are, in essence, its God.

so!

if you'd like to have a cool place to organize your worldbuilding (or even organize existing worlds that you're role playing in), use this cool site called Notebook.ai!

it's a rad site you can use for free (there are upgrades for those who want more categories to work with, but the free version is great) that helps organize your world by universes, characters, locations, and items. there's a scratchpad where you can take notes, and you can download your info to keep on hand. it's really cool.

so there you go! the weekly writing challenge for this week! create a world or alternate one that you're already in. you'll be surprised just how much this simple activity gets the creative juices flowing--which in turn helps you write better responses for your peers.

happy worldbuilding ! ♥

character development (hard mode)

hey guise! i'm supposed to write a drabble thing weekly but i didn't do that.
so instead--!
i'm gonna fill out this thing i found on tumblr.
introducing CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT !
hard mode.
xD

basically, if you're RPing--whether a canon character or OC,
you need to give your muse some sort of development.
normally, this happens in the interactions that you'll have with your fellow peers.
but you can always sorta fill in some blanks that don't come along naturally to give your amigos additional info & to have this info at your own disposal to refer back to.

feel free to copy / paste the questions & use them as needed ! erase my responses, of course. c; no need to publicly post them--keep them at hand as you build and grow your character. ♥

o1. Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? If so, which one are they closest with?

-- Selina has a single sibling that she has knowledge of named Magdalene (Maggie). She & Maggie have a strained, estranged relationship.

o2. What is/was your character's relationship like with their mother?

-- Selina's mother (Maria Kyle) is deceased. While still a child, Selina did not have a typical childhood. Her mother was distant and perhaps suffered from mental illness. It is known that her mother loved to spend time with her cats--perhaps this is where Selina gets her affinity for felines. Nonetheless, her mother commits suicide. This leaves Selina and her sister Maggie alone with their father.

o3. What is/was your character's relationship like with their father?

-- Brian Kyle's relationship with Selina becomes worse after her mother dies. Because she looks a lot like Maria, her father resents her and treats his children coldly. He becomes an alcoholic and dies because of it. This leaves Selina and Maggie orphans. There is slight evidence that Selina's biological father may actually be Carmine Falcone, and though it seems plausible nothing ever comes from it.

o4. Has your character ever witnessed anything that has fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?

-- Selina has gone through many traumatizing events during her formative years that many young girls don't experience. Witnessing the deaths of both of her parents, which leaves her no choice but to live in an orphanage is one of the biggest. However, Catwoman would not exist if it weren't for Selina's experience in the orphanage and later on in the streets of Gotham. Selina is very mum about her past and hardly anyone knows about it.

o5. On an average day, what's in your character's pockets?

-- In an average night, Catwoman can easily stuff her catsuit with monies, jewels, and other expensive trinkets. During the day, Selina could be found sleeping away most of it.

o6. Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?

-- The one aspect of life that Selina feels that lay unfilled is her family life. Dreams of happiness will often include those around her who she cares about dearly.

o7. Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?

-- Several subjects still silently haunt Selina. Her nightmares will include her mother and father, her sister, her past life in a carnival environment, and even some of Gotham's villains.

o8. Has your character ever fired a gun? If so, what (or who) was their first target?

-- Catwoman normally doesn't use weapons other than her bullwhip. She's also (mostly) against lethal force, but will do so if necessary. However, in many of Selina's incarnations she's known to carry / use pistols and automatic rifles, & will aim them at any enemy.

o9. Is your character's current socioeconomic status different from what it was when they were growing up?

-- Absolutely. Growing up, Selina was far from wealthy. Though her parents did care for her adequately while they were living, once she was orphaned she was at the mercy of Gotham's government care. Running away from the orphanage rendered Selina penniless. It wasn't until she assumed the role of Catwoman that she acquired her wealth. She can often be seen at high-class gatherings--most likely sizing up her next victim.

1o. Does your character feel comfortable with more clothing, or less clothing?

-- Selina is comfortable in her skin. She adjusts her style with her surroundings. In a casual environment, the less, the better. In a formal gala, Selina will wear appropriate clothing but is never one to compromise being sexy. Her catsuit while working is practical but attractive.

11. In what situation was your character the most afraid than they've ever been?

-- Selina's been in numerous sticky situations that even she questioned whether she'd make it out alive. Even when facing a potential penalty of death for a crime she didn't commit, Catwoman remained calm. More often than not, she doesn't wear fear on her sleeve.

12. In what situation was your character the calmest they've ever been?

-- In nearly all situations, Catwoman doesn't show fear. Even when bewildered, Selina will not let the other know just how nervous or afraid she is.

13. Is your character bothered by the sight of blood? If so, in what way?

-- Selina does not have a fear of the sight of blood.

14. Does your character remember names or faces easier?

-- Catwoman can remember both very well.

15. Is your character preoccupied with money / material possessions? Why or why not?

-- Selina loves all things glamorous. She's obsessed with jewels, money, and fine art. While she initially started her life of crime as a way to support herself, Selina will often still swipe expensive goods for no good reason.

16. What does your character idealize most: happiness or success?

-- I like to think that my muse enjoys a bit of both. What good is a ton of money when you aren't fulfilled emotionally?

17. What was your character's favorite toy as a child?

-- In her younger years, Selina was much like any normal child--she enjoyed playing with dolls and playing dress-up.

18. Is your character more likely to admire someone's ambition or wisdom?

-- Though wisdom trumps a lot of things, having the ambition to want to change and better yourself tops high on Selina's list.

19. What is your character's biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?

-- Selina's biggest flaw in romantic relationships is wearing her heart on her sleeve. She's quite honest about her feelings, almost to a fault. Though an admirable trait, it often comes back to bite her when her feelings aren't reciprocated.

In familial and friend connections, her flaw is caring too much--even if it comes at the cost of her own feelings. She has a big heart and wants the best for those closest to her. This isn't to say that Selina could be taken advantage of easily--she can and usually does discover if someone has an alternative motive.

2o. In what ways does your character compare to themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?

-- One of the only ways that my muse compares herself to others is thinking about the path she has taken in life. Although her sister is troubled and their relationship is strained, Selina often wonders where she would be now had she stayed in the orphanage.

21. If something tragic / negative happens to your character, do they believe that they've caused it or deserved it, or are they too quick to blame others?

-- Catwoman has gone through so many tragic events that she doesn't quite blame anyone, including herself. She has a strong belief that sometimes life deals you a hand, & you have to make the best with what you have.

22. What does your character like in other people?

-- Selina, despite her own shiftiness, adores honesty in others.

23. What does your character dislike in other people?

-- An inability to trust them. Being shafted isn't fun when you're dedicated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done.

24. How quick is your character able to trust someone?

-- Not very. In Selina's line of business, trust is earned--either by interaction or reputation.

25. How quick is your character to become suspicious of someone? Does this change if they become closer to a person?

-- Catwoman is always initially suspicious. However, even those she's known for a long time are known to switch sides--so there will always be a bit of suspicion, no matter what. Selina can count on one hand the people she can completely trust.

26. How does your character behave around children?

-- Selina is a kind spirit to children, especially those who are going through the same plight that she did growing up. She enjoys their company and taking care of them.

27. How does your character normally deal with confrontation?

-- Head on !! She doesn't shy away from claiming what's rightfully hers, and if Selina needs to fight her way out--she will!

28. How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation?

-- Depending on the level of threat, almost immediately. If Selina feels that she's in imminent danger, she will use bodily harm to help her get out of a bad situation.

29. What did your character dream of being / doing when they were a child? Did that dream come true?

-- My muse has never wanted to be anything specifically. As a child, she always talked about being a princess "when she grows up." This is many a child's dream, and not out of the ordinary for a young girl. However unrealistic, Selina's dream may have spawned in a different way. Though she's not officially royalty, her relationship with the richest man in Gotham entitles her to many privileges. In addition, she enjoys dressing in an elegant, refined manner and enjoys many objects that princesses may covet--like jewels and art.

3o. What does your character find repulsive or disgusting?

-- People who take advantage of the weak, poor, and sickly.

31. Describe a scenario in which your character feels the most comfortable.

-- In bed with Batbae, talking about nothing in particular. Just being in his company. Honorable mention? Being with her girls. Her friends remind her of a normalcy she isn't presented with often.

32. Describe a scenario in which your characters feels the most uncomfortable.

-- Any scenario where Selina is forced to choose between two worlds. She's still learning to balance the old with  the new, and sometimes feels overwhelmed when she wants what's best for her--but it's the same thing that makes others question her loyalty to them.

33. In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve?

-- Selina always strives for some level of perfection, so she will do what it takes to improve herself.

34. Is your character more likely to keep trying a method / solution that didn't work the first time, or immediately move on to a different one?

-- I would think that my muse would always think on her toes, especially since she's often in situations where she only has seconds to think about what she should do at any given moment. If something didn't work, surely Selina would be on to bigger and better things. Attempting the same thing over and over seems a bit redundant.

35. How does your character behave around people they like?

-- Selina's an overall very pleasant person to be around. She's not at all catty--but playful, enjoys interesting banter, and generally loves being around them.

36. How does your character behave around people they dislike?

-- In this case, she would be catty. Selina would be more cautious, like a cat with their fur and ears perked. Instead of playful banter, her words would most likely reek of sarcasm, if not some insults.

37. Is your character more concerned with defending their honor, or protecting their status?

-- It depends on the instance, but more often than not what Selina does isn't for herself. When she steals, she often gives much of her keep to those who are in need. When she teeters on the line between good vs. evil, she'll often cape for Bats--being a ready source of information for what's going on in the alleys. Though her motives seem selfish at times, Selina could be seen as selfless for those she cares about.

38. Is your character more likely to remove a problem / threat, or remove themselves from it?

-- She would definitely try to take care of any issue on her own, by any means necessary.

39. Has your character ever been bitten by an animal? How were they affected (or unaffected)?

-- Does being bit by a Bat count? LOOOL

4o. How does your character treat people in service jobs?

-- Selina knows what it's like to be on the other end of that spectrum, so she treats people who work for those sorts of occupations with the ultimate respect. Most of all she adores Alfred.

41. Does your character feel that they deserve to have what they want, or do they feel that they must earn it first?

-- Eh! If kitty wants it, kitty gets it--no questions or qualms about it.~

42. Has your character ever had a parental figure who was not related to them?

-- It doesn't seem like Selina has had too many admirable figures in her life. Aside from Alfred, who offers her sound advice and a listening ear when she needs it, she never met anyone who could truly be placed in the same shoes that her mother and father were supposed to fill.

43. Has your character ever had a dependent figure who was not related to them?

-- Yes; Selina took in a young girl who reminded her much of herself (or a girl that she actually grew up with, depending on the lore) by the name of Holly Robinson.

44. How easy or difficult is it for your character to say "I love you?" Can they say it without meaning it?

-- It's a bit difficult to get to a point where the Cat would be openly willing to utter those words. It's rare, depending on who she's addressing, given the circumstances of her life and how she's never really found the love she needed from her family.

45. What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?

-- Selina was never one to be religious, a stark contrast to her sister Maggie. In the case of my muse, she rarely thinks about what could be--preferring to stay in the moment, as she's always lived.
