"Reiner's Biography"
~History~ -Childhood- Year 837-843 Reiner's upbringing was harsh. He was born into the relationship of a Marleyan man and Eldian woman which was considered taboo on Eldia's soil. Because of this he was unable to see his father growing up. Reiner was raised only by his mother until sometime between the ages of 5-7 where he was enlisted among the Marley government's warrior program where he met others who became his well known friends. During his time there, his exams and training weren't as high as his fellow cadets but his devotion to Marley's cause was just enough to grant him the official title of a "Warrior". It wasn't until their mission on Paradis Island that Reiner learns that it was because of one of his comrades, Marcel, who insisted to officers that Reiner gain the power instead of his own brother to spare him having to suffer Ymir's Curse. Only those among their ranks and who have proven to be experienced soldiers would also be given the privilege of inheriting the very power of one of the nine titans of legend, Reiner would soon be granted the Armored's power and be given the mission to infiltrate Paradis Island alongside Bertholdt, Annie, and Marcel in order to retrieve the Founding titan. Upon arriving to the island, the group took shelter on their way to the walled society only for a titan to ambush them and devour Marcel after he saved Reiner's life in the process. The three would quickly reach their destination and begin their attack on Paradis. Taking advantage of the turmoil of the resulting titan attack, Reiner, Berthholdt, and Annie succeeded in sneaking into the fleeing populace and blended in as fellow refugees headed for Wall Rose.
-Teenager- Year 847-850 Sometime after the assault on Wall Maria, Reiner's group laid low with the refugees and began a false life of their own, adopting an alibi of a lone survivor of an unnamed village to keep their identities secret. A discussion with the other two, Reiner proclaimed if they cannot reclaim the titan soon enough, they will attack Wall Rose to lure it out thus Bertholdt took action and breached it. Later after reclaiming Wall Maria's Trost district due to the attack by the Colossal titan, the scouts lead an expedition which was interrupted by the Female titan. Reiner was nearly killed in the assault but escaped on purpose after he inscribed Eren's location onto Annie's palm. After the ordeal of finding out the titan's identity and capturing them, Reiner along with other recruits were ordered to hide outside of the walls with a scout escort while the real objective was to find the Female titan's accomplices. During this time, the group narrowly escaped a titan invasion at castle Utgard and shortly after returning to Wall Rose, Reiner and Bertolt revealed themselves as titans before attempting to kidnap Eren. They failed after the scouts had cleverly ambushed the two using titans and they then fled toward Shiganshina district with Ymir. The two crossed paths with Marley war chief, Zeke Jaeger, and planned to recapture Eren for the Coordinate ability where a battle ensued in Shiganshina upon the scout's arrival. Zeke's plan ends in failure once Bertolt was killed and he along with Reiner were in critical condition during the battle, leaving the two with no option but to flee to the mainland of Eldia. Presumably years have passed and Reiner now returns to his homeland of Liberio after a brief battle at fort Slava where afterwards he soon reunited with his family and continues his duties as a Warrior.
~Appearance~ -Human Form- Reiner naturally has short blonde hair and golden eyes as well as a defined facial structure. His large height, broad shoulders, and serious expression give him an intimidating presence.
-Reiner as a child-
-Reiner in mid teens- -Reiner in late teens/adulthood-
-Titan Form- Average among titan shifters, the Armored titan stands at approximately 15 meters tall. As the name would suggest his titan form is covered entirely in bone-like plates of armor leaving only joints exposed for mobility. Its jaw plate recedes to expose the lip-less jaw when opening its mouth. The lenses over its eyes are golden and the hair is gray in color.
~Personality~ As one of the more respected members of the Survey Corp, Reiner is a passionate and honest person with a strong sense of duty. He believes in taking on extra burdens in place of his comrades, putting others before himself as being the kindhearted individual. This has given him the title of "Big Brother" among the recruits. Despite his many actions however Reiner also suffers from emotional and mental problems which are a sign of Dissociative Identity Disorder. While still loyal to Marley's cause, he was unable to cope with guilt and the sacrifice of his comrade, Marcel, forced him to suppress his true self and his memories in order to escape. Reiner later realized that the "Soldier" personality he created during his time in the Survey Corps was based off the behavior of his deceased comrade who saved his life.
~Powers & Abilities~ -Titan Shifting- Only the select few who possess the power of the powerful titans are capable of changing between titan and human form at will. The main trigger for the transformation is sustaining a physical injury which forces the body's natural response to heal or fight back. However, unless the user is experienced enough there is a timed interval upon leaving titan form where the host needs to recover before transforming again. Going into titan form is a process that leaves the host fatigued shortly after. -Regeneration- Due to titan physiology, titans and shifters alike possess a natural healing factor. Whether in human or titan form, Reiner can heal drastically from most injuries even if they may sometimes be fatal such as being impaled through a vital organ or losing a limb. Controlling this healing factor good enough can even allow a shifter to withdraw from regenerating from an injury at will to avoid blowing cover for instance.
-Reiner Regenerating from an Injury- -Armor Hardening- While his titan form already possesses armor everywhere, Reiner can create some additional armor for added defense. Such as the case with creating pointed fingertips in order to scale vertical surfaces His armor is sturdy enough to repel the scout's maneuver gear blades and even cannon fire. At times he can freely discard bits and pieces of his armor to sacrifice protection for speed and combat and vice versa. -Brain Function Transfer- This particular ability has been considered incredibly difficult to carry out and must only be used as a last resort due to the risks involved. In a scenario where the host's body is exposed from their titan and badly damaged to the point where the brain has been severely injured that the host would be brain-dead, a well trained user in this skill can transfer brain function to their titan body's brain momentarily until their actual body is fully healed. One drawback to this is once the host has regained consciousness, there's the risk of short-term memory loss.
