Renegade Legends

Basics:

Renegade Legends are deities, heroes, and divine monsters who have stepped outside of the Idea Realm (myths and legends) to manifest in the mortal world, endangering people.

History:

From myths and legends, they were born. The essence of the world and beyond, this is what comprises the supernatural core of them, thus lending form to these existences, the Legends. But for some legends, the forms and nature of their myths becomes a burden, and they rebel against them, manifesting in the world, escaping from the myths and legends, also known as the Idea Realm, as Renegade Legends, and bringing disaster with them.

What determines the power of a Renegade Legend is not their accomplishments, or how powerful they were portrayed in their myths, but rather the people's strong belief and connection to the myth.

There are also some cases in which Renegade part with their divinities as a result of being wounded or sealed. Sometimes, these lost pieces have been put into Grimoire. In these cases they are shown to experience change in their personalities. The example of this can be seen from how Verethragna, Sun Wukong, and Lancelot all showed changes in their personalities once they regained their full power and Athena who lost her memories and personality after part of her power was absorbed by Metis. Regaining the lost piece will return the Renegade to their normal selves.

Types of Renegade Legends:

Many of the different gods have been revealed to have a specific nature or element to them, which embodies a core part of their status and their origins. In the cast of Susanoo and Sun Wukong, this nature was Steel, while in the case of Osiris, Athena, and Apollo, this nature was Earth.

A. Legends of Steel -

Those Legends who embody battle, their myths and legends containing veiled references to forging or tempering a sword. Many of them, such as Siegfried, Achilles, and Sun Wukong, share a characteristic of having skin of extreme durability, through immersion in fire or liquids such as water or blood, and harken to the methods for forging a sword. They generally play the part of heroes and war gods, and often are noted for slaying snakes or dragons, such as Susanoo's slaying of the Yamato No Orochi, Perseus's slaying of Medusa, or Siegfried's slaying of the dragon Fafnir. These dragons being symbolic representatives of Mother Earth Goddesses, whom are forced to marry the one who defeated them, granting some Legends of Steel the power to command Miko of those goddesses.

In many myths, Legends of Steel will gain weapons or powers from slaying dragons or serpents. For example, Siegfried gained his invulnerable skin from bathing in the blood of a dragon, while Ame no Murakumo no Tsurugi was found by Susanoo after he slew the Orochi, an eight-headed snake monster.

"Immortality on the battlefield. This is also a characteristic of Steel. Heroes of the military, Heroes of might, Gods of war, myths of battles. Those born to fight belonged to the category known as Steel."

B. Legends of the Earth -

Those legends that embody nature (sky, sea, land, underworld, darkness and the cycle of life [life, growth, maturity, death, rebirth, {immortality, healing, transformations}] ) whether in whole or in part. They are often noted as having entered the Netherworld in some fashion, either through death such as Osiris, or being born in the Earth as Apollo, only to return through some means to the world of the living, such as Apollo rising in the sky as the sun god, or Osiris's resurrection.

B1. Variation: Mother Earth Goddesses:

Mother Earth Goddesses are female legends of the of Earth similarly embodying nature but differ greatly from their male counterparts. Often, when a Mother Earth Goddess was assimilated into a new area or religion, she would be turned into a monster, who would then be slain, and her priestess would then marry the slayer in order to make her subordinate to the ruling gods. The slayer generally being a Legend of Steel.

Many goddesses of the earth legends are symbolized as snakes or dragons, with the foremost example being Athena who was also Medusa. Religions that assimilated them would often use this trait to their advantage. They would split the Mother Earth Goddess into a beautiful maiden and a ferocious monster. The heroes would then defeat the monster (a.k.a the goddess) and then marry the maiden (enslave her) in what would become the stories we know today.

Mother Earth Goddesses can take weapons of [Steel] as the heroes stole those weapons or powers from them to begin with.

Mother Earth Goddesses were often paired with a male god, often a Legend of Steel, to act as a guardian or protector. These gods were usually lovers, brothers, or in the oldest traditions, sons.

C. Legends of the Sun -

Those legends who are generally represented as warriors, heroes and deities of light. They often have a quality of immortality similar to that as possessed by Legends of Steel. The biggest difference  is that they are typically unaffected by anything using light, commonly the Sun such as when Godou used his authority of White Stallion to attack Sasha Dejanstahl Voban when he was using the authority of Apollo or when he used it to attack Circe. In at least some cases, Legends of the Sun are also Legends of the Earth such as Apollo, or gods of steel, such as Verethragna.

D. Legends of Subordination -

Not much information is known about the difference between a Legend  of Subordination or an Individual Legend. It is stated that a "Subordinate" can share their power with its “Master”, the Legend that summoned, controls and protects them, and vise versa; however, only the “Master” can take all the power from their "Subordinate."

"Subordinates" are less powerful than a normal Renegade Legend because, since they have subordinated themselves to another, they lack the will to succeed no matter what others say that an independent Renegade possesses.

If a "Subordinate's" leader is slain, the "Subordinate" will quickly fall as well.

E. False Legends -

These Renegades  are not true Legends, but are magical copies that look like, and have access to the Authorities of a specific Renegade Legend, but have only a fraction of that Legend's full power. Because of this, they are only slightly more powerful than a Divine Beast.

False Legends seemingly do not fulfill the requirements necessary for Pandora to grant a Campione an Authority.

The only known source for False Legends is the Divine Ancestor Guinevere, using the power of the Holy Grail.

Powers and Abilities:

Renegades are endowed with divine powers and weaponry called Authorities which embody their right to rule in their myths. These Authorities can sometimes be quite different from the modern version of the god, reaching back to the origins and history of the myths and legends from which the Renegade was born. For example, Athena's petrifying gaze, which she shares with her alternate identity of Medusa, or Apollo's power over wolves.

Renegades also can perform magics with much greater ease than mortals, even without using their Authorities, as Athena showed when she made the people around her not notice her, and by the actions of Sun Wukong.

Renegades are immortal, living forever unless killed. Even if killed, however, a Renegade will merely return to the myths and legends which spawned them, and may return to the human world in time. As long as their myths and legends exist, so too will the Renegade in some fashion, as the myths are part of the Renegade themselves, and the Renegade is just the manifestation or extension of these myths. Also, Renegades are immune to all mortal weapons, be they swords, clubs, guns, poison, chemical, or biological. Only the most powerful of magical weapons or spells can harm, let alone kill them. Renegades can even survive without a physical body. This happens when they have drained most of their power, or have been badly, but not mortally, injured.

Renegades can even seemingly possess people, though it is unknown if the possessed must fit any requirements to be eligible for this.

Fate:

Those Renegades who survive long enough will eventually calm themselves. However, they find that they cannot return to their myths unless slain, so they choose to either go to sleep, or pass into the Root and wait there, where they are separated from the mortal world.

If slain, a Renegade will return to the Idea Realm, which lies beyond the Root, with a chance of eventually returning as a Renegade once again. However, if there have been changes to the legend since the time of their manifestation, the Renegade who manifests may be completely different from the one that walked the earth before.

Some female Renegades, the great earth mothers, will, after being defeated by heroes, become Divine Ancestors, and are suggested as being the Ancestors of Hime-Miko, and the sources of their supernatural abilities. Divine Ancestors are Witches who possess eternal youth and Magic powers surpassing humans, but weaker than those of a Campione or Legend. They can also transform into snake/dragon gods by sacrificing their immortality. There is some suggestion that this transformation into a Divine Ancestor only happens if they have their divinity stolen to empower them.

Campione (Champion)

Basics:
Campione are those humans who have slain a Heretic Deities or Rogue Legends and stolen their divine Authorities.

History:
When a mortal slays a Heretic God or Rogue Legend, they take upon themselves the Authorities of that Heretic God, and they become Campione.

Generally, a Campione will only acquire one Authority from the god they slay, which is influenced by the personality, compatibility, and skill of the Campione. Though there are rare exceptions such as the seventh Campione, Touya Kusanagi, in that case, the Authority adjusted to fit his own nature. Often losing elements or gaining limitations or requirements for use that the deity/legend didn't have.

Because of their divine Authorities, Campione are automatically designated the rulers of whatever territory they call home. In that area, among the supernatural, their very word is law itself. Only another Campione dares contradict them.

Campione are called the "Bastard/Illegitimate Children of Epimetheus", Titan of hindsight, because only someone who, like Epimetheus, acts without thinking of the consequences, would face a Heretic rather than run away.

It is revealed that Pandora controls the distribution of Authorities in some method, and that if a Campione slays a Heretic God who has been weakened in some fashion by another, or in some other fashion that she does not approve of, such as a Campione in perfect health coming across an injured Heretic God and slaying them, then she will not allow the Campione to gain a new Authority from it.

Personality:

Campione, due to the method of obtaining their rank, are depicted as evil tyrannical monsters from everyone in the magic world. It is also assumed that every magician fears their wrath and serve out of fear of the frequent evil they pursue. However, this judgement is technically false.

Campione are indeed dangerous and destructive, but that is only due to them fighting, or abusing their power. Some are indifferent of others' concern at their goals but most of the magic world forget that Campione are human in nature. This disregard puts a lot of sophistry and bias in view that all Campione as the same. Each of the 7 are different in their traits, but, because of persecution and fear, individuality on them is ignored until it is too late.

These human attributes are basically the key to defining what authorities they have or will have. Also, it doesn't matter if they have any magic or martial arts skills, a Campione is terrible not only for god slaying, but because their traits allowed for their success, such as Voban, Godou, Aisha, as well as Smith proved through hunger, friendship, kindness, and repression, to achieve kingship.

Campione in all have displayed signs of arrogance, bloodlust when attacked, cunningness, ambition, leadership, idiocy and a tendency to find amusement at pathetic arrogant worms attempting on their life. In a spectrum of ruling, they either revel in their tyranny (Vasilisa and Hye), attempt to become good rulers (Argusten and Callings), or are indifferent about their positions (Masika, Dunois, Touya and Castillo).

Since they posses great power, or because of it, Campione can be seen as clumsy, as their powers cause unintentional damage.

But regardless of their flaws Campione's are grand kings. Most of the magic world revere them for the achieving the impossible. So much so that all magic organizations have deemed attacking or threatening one of them to be courageously suicidal, or completely, downright stupid. Anyone who does such a thing gets admiration for bravery or being labeled an even bigger idiot than the kings they challenge. Their power serves as a necessary evil. Heretic Gods are disasters, Campione limit the disaster by about 67%, and the fact that their selfishness indicates the human will to live. Which is why they are either determined, reckless, intellectual, or charismatic, lucky fools.

That being said, it is something of an unspoken truth that Campione (or at least the vast majority of them) are knuckleheads at heart. For they are not only the only humans to have slain a Heretic God, they are also the only humans foolish enough to try in the first place.

Variations:
Rokuhara Ren and Lucius Castillo are unique. Their presence won't trigger legend's battle instinct like other Campione. Some legends might not aware that the two are Campione until other point that out or when they engage into a battle. They're don't seem to enter a battle mode where his body is filled with magical energy and fighting spirit when encounter both hostile and friendly divine being.

It's theorizes that their circumstances behind their rebirth as godslayer and symbiotic relationships with their respective legends might be a reasons behind this unique body constitution.

Occult Research Committee

Background info:

The Occult Research Committee is a Sorcery Association located somewhere in Columbia. It mainly serves as a base of operations for Lucius and his companions. The Committee was only recently established after Lucius' fight with the bearers of fate. Since they are new to the scene, information on the group and its members are scares. Publicly, the Committee, like all associations, investigate supernatural events in the world. However, privately, the Committee acts as a safe haven for those negatively affected by the magical world, while also training aspiring magicians. They recruit all sorts of talent and its ranks not only including powerful magicians but also:

-Scientists who focus purely on research of magic
-People who seek revenge against magical entities for deaths of relatives
-Street hoodlums
- Con artists
- Thieves

As long as they knew the existence of magic, even ordinary citizens are included. This was why their levels of competency and expertise were extremely varied. The Committee also seems to function as a Freelancer group accepting requests from other associations. While Lucius serves as its leader and founder, Derek handles most administrative duties.

Sir Bryce Dunois (Side Character)

Name:
Bryce Dunois

Other Names:
King of Swords
Blade Genius
Europe's Greatest Swordsman

Gender:
Male

Race:
Human

Ethnicity:
French

Age:
34

Blood Type:
???

Hair Color:
Copper

Eye Color:
Violet (Campione form: Gold)

Relative:
Pandora (Adoptive Mother)

Affiliations:
Copper-Black Cross (Associate)
Bronze-Black Cross (Associate)

Ranking:
Campione

Status:
Alive

Appearance:
Bryce is described as a tall-figured young man with copper colored hair. He also has two earrings on both ears and usually wears a battle attire and carrying his three swords.

Personality:
Bryce is a carefree and irresponsible person that brings disaster toward his associates whenever he does something carelessly, and believes that if there is a problem he can solve it with his sword. He doesn't even realize how much trouble and how many problems he actually causes others. Stated to be the kind of person who can be fighting to the death against a person, and later sitting down to drink with them.

Even before becoming a campione, he was often (and justifiably) called an idiot, stupid, moron. And afterwards, people who know him still called him these behind his back, albeit with more reason to. And his butler and best friend, constantly scolds him because of said idiocy.

He also has a rather condescending attitude, as he believed Lucius wasn't worthy of being Campione after he didn't muster up the strength to pass his test. However, he is capable of changing his views after Lucius revealed his true power and stated that he could of easily pass those tests. He was also not afraid in giving Lucius the victory in their battle, as he was truly impressed by the latter's skills.

History:
WIP

Equipment/Authorities:
???' Authorities -

1. 《Splitting Hand of Silver》 - This authority grants Bryce a silver arm that can make any object from a sword to a toothpick into an invincible blade that can pierce through anything: spells, ectoplasm, or even entire stone forts. He is also able to increase the size and length of the blade, and even make it release explosions on impact. He can even make it so that any wounds created by these blades will not easily heal, even for Campione or Heretic Gods. He can also coat the blades in the silver from his hand, increasing its size enormously. This power can even turn the ground into a sword, though Bryce considers this troublesome, even though it allows him to strike down even armies easily.

This power lasts as long as Bryce is touching the object, but can be reawoken even long after contact has ended, though this requires some concentration. Bryce has done this to a number of asteroids floating in space, and with some effort, can use them to strike down his enemies with blows from space.

Achilles' Authorities -

1. 《Heroism's Eternal Man》- This authority grants Bryce a body with protection from all ill will and killing intent, proving strong enough to survive Touya's "White Stallion" Authority, without sacrificing his agility. It also allows him to survive without needing food or oxygen, allowing him to survive underwater or in vacuum conditions for multiple years. Bryce has also shown the ability to go into suspended animation when needed, although he is quite vulnerable in this state. He was also shown to have the ability to increase the protection runes and extend them from his body, creating a defensive wall of runes that can protect nearby people.

Sethlans' Authorities -

1. 《Back to the Past》 - This authority grants Bryce the ability to negates all modern devices and conveniences by casting a barrier of 'Restriction,' which degrades the level of civilization within the area he's in, to the point where technology more advanced than that era level is unusable within a few kilometers for half a day. However, the more power he uses upon activation, the larger the area it covers and the greater its duration to the point where it is possible to cover a metropolis the size of Milan for multiple days. It is an Authority with the potential to threaten the world. When he uses it a revolving circular board appears beneath his feet with the Latin words 'nudus ara' (plow nude) and 'sere nudus' (sow nude), words of the poet Hesiod, and when he cancels the Authority he shatters the board.

Soma's Authorities -

1. 《Curse of Insurrection》 - This authority grants Bryce the ability to causes other Authorities and magics to go berserk and out of their users' control. It is so powerful that even Bryce himself cannot completely control it, but can serve as a powerful trump card if used correctly. However, it needs a fair amount of time to prepare, but he can partially activate it to affect specific targets.

Madame Masika (Sworn 'Younger' Sister)

Affiliations:
Supreme Cult of the Five Great Peaks(Founder)

Ranking:
Campione

Status:
Alive

Appearance:
Hye Lim is described by Lucius as a transcendent Korean beauty, and the most beautiful young woman he'd ever met. She has pearl-like skin, violet hair, a slender body with a full bosom and bottom, appearing to be in her earlier twenties. She seems to have a preference of wearing traditional Chinese clothes from the Han dynasty.

Personality:
As described by the Enchantress of Cairo: "Possessing the full set of the five Confucian virtues of benevolence, righteousness, propriety, knowledge and integrity, she was a great figure who carried herself with royal splendor. However, she believed her valor to be the greatest in the world, and compared to the lives of five billion humans, she placed greater value on herself than anyone else on the Earth. Simply put, she has delusions on the level of middle school students.”

She appears to be very haughty, as she considers regular humans beneath her. And views Lucius and Columbia as a district rather than a separate country. Not to mention heading into another king's country without permission. She is very strict with her disciples as she made hers experience near death experiences resulting in his misogyny.

In a shocker from Lucius, it appears Hye Lim has a muscle fetish, when she marveled at how Lucius destroyed a wall. Being in seclusion meant she lacked common sense in male-female decency.

Hye Lim is very observant of formality and propriety, as well as the various rules of etiquette. She could also be said to be quite hypocritical, since she demands respect from others, but barged into another King's territory and unleashed a Rogue Legend while looking down on said king (Lucius).

Hye Lim believes the decline of civilization began with the invention of the steam locomotive.

History:
Little is known of Hye Lim's history prior to becoming a Campione. It was mentioned she was the child of a family of martial artists, and eventually battled and slew a Rogue Legend. She eventually fought the Monkey King Sun Wukong, battling him over a hundred years, and since then appears to have held a grudge against him, waiting for the moment when she could fight him again. At some point, she became the leader of a martial arts cult in somewhere in Asia. She later became the teacher of Lu Yinghua. There is some suggestion that she had been imprisoned at some time in the past, but fought her way out, completely destroying the prison in the process.

Equipment/Authorities:
Xihe's Authorities-

《Law of the Sun》- Her first and most used Authority is that of intense flames and heat, usurped from the Chinese Solar Goddess, Xihe. This Authority allows her to create divine flames that are said "to burn as hot as the sun itself. THE LAW burns any material — other flames included — until nothing but ash remains. Once created, THE LAW can continue burning for seven days and seven nights. The flames cannot be extinguished with water or any other normal methods; only the user can put the flames out. By Manifesting an Avatar, she can transform her aura and attire into flames, which removes the stress on her body and allows her to fly as well as injure opponents by striking them with her veiled body. However, the flames released from her body is only as powerful as that of ordinary mages, making it useless against Rogue Legend or other Campione, and can be easily dispelled by accomplished magicians. The Authority even has an attack mode called Black Sun, which can incinerate everything on the ground within the area, but using it will make Hye Lim unable to use the Authority for half a day.It has been stated this move is as powerful as Godou's White Stallion.

Benzaiten's Authorities -

1. 《Voice of Power》- This authority grants Hye the ability of raising fierce winds equivalent to hurricanes/typhoons and tornadoes that are capable of wiping everything off the surrounding area. It appears to involve channeling power through her voice to create the winds, typically in the form of singing or with regular words, and she has shown fine enough control that she can use it as an omnidirectional attack or focus it on one target, using it to either crush their bodies or push them to a far off location where she can make them land gently.

Cel's Authorities -

1. 《The Might》- This authority grants Hye the ability to turn her fist into diamond and obtains incredible physical strength that she shows enough control over that even when throwing someone a great distance, she can make them land softly enough to prevent serious injury. She can also summon either one or two large stone statues or a gigantic diamond palm, which are capable of immense strength created for Hye Lim to use as her puppets. The two statues are covered in jade and appear to be two almost completely nude muscular men. The palm she manifests has been shown to be as large as a building, which she uses to grab and launch him into the atmosphere. It is unknown if she can manifest the palm and giants at the same time.

Emesh's Authorities -

1. 《Atrocious Metropolitan》 - A continuously-active-type authority which grants any city she resides in great agricultural and economic prosperity. Blessed by various degrees of good fortune, the inhabitants will gradually rise in class and quality, producing stability in the government. However, decline will quickly set in after she leaves.

????'s Authorities -

1. 《Sinister Park》 - This authority grants Hye the ability to creates plant life in the surroundings, with the area varying from the size of a small meadow of flowers to turning an entire country into a jungle, with time and magical power requirements. Were it to be invoked at full power, it is even possible to turn all of China into a Rotten Sea. The flowers can be of any kind (including poisonous or man-eating) on any surface she chooses.

Martial Arts:

1. The Twelve Divine Palm Strikes of the Phoenix - A techniques of precision strikes to the focal points in a person's body. Originally called the Five Immortal Palm Strikes of the Flying Phoenix, Hye Lim has since added seven more, transforming them into their present state. The Twelve Palm Strikes are: Fengchudengmen, Fengyanchuanlian, Fengzhuataoxin, Feifengzhuiluo, Danfengchaoyang, Jinfengliangchi, Qunfenglianhuan, Xiongfengqianjin, Fengyitianxiang, Fenglongyinyang, Fenghuangshuangfei, and Dafengwutian.

2 . Soul-Stealing Palm of Astral Absorption - A technique from the unorthodox styles, this technique allows the user to steal energy from a target through the medium of the user's palm, empowering themselves, while draining their opponent.

3. Golden-Winged Peng - A technique that allows Hye Lim shapeshift into a dragon and giant bird, but it is unknown if this was done with one spell, or different spells or if her transformations are limited to these creatures.

4. Absolute Supremacy Peerless Across the Universe - A training technique that allows qi to recover with frightening speed. A form of neigong for fast recovery, but for the risk of regressing in age in the form of a young girl. An emergency technique. However, the sum total was less than usual for physical stamina and arm strength were naturally going to be weakened.

5. Daoist Arts - Arts that are the traditional Magic system of China and Japan. They are based on the Feung Sheui, Astrology, and other traditional Asian beliefs. Like all magic systems, they are based around the use and manipulation of qi or life force.
A. Shuukuchi - A Daoist Art that allows one to move across dozens of meters instead of meters within an instant.
B. Flight
