How I came to Be

He sat before her legs crossed Indian style, he was barely clothed but kept himself modestly covered for the spirit woman's sake. He waved his hand over the ancient petrified campfire sat and with a single wiggle of his fingers did the debris set on fire. He let out a long sigh and closed his uniquely colored eyes. His hands coming to rest in his lap. "I used to be human, I used to run the land and forests hunting for a tribe of ancient people that no longer exsist. I hunted game as tall as mountains and as fearsome as the storms that rage over the seas. I brought food and honor to my village." He stopped almost wishing not to relive these memories again. But he continued.

"One day darkness came to the land, covered the skies, the trees withered and died animals became corrupted rotten beasts whose minds became a frenzy of anger and confusion. I was out with my hunter brethren, when it struck, we sent our students back to the village while we stayed to hold off what we could for as long as we could. But as my brethren dropped one by one we realized that we couldn't hold it back." The God stoked the fire with his hand causing the fire to flare up, talking with a winter spirit in a cold dismal cave when both neither needed heat nor light meant that he did so to keep his mind from wandering down that dismal path.

"The rest of us fled home to make our final stand with our loved ones, if we were to die then we would die with those we loved. So we built up our defenses and waited for the darkness to come. When it arrived it threw things at us we had never before seen, great tyrannical lizards with teeth as long as I was tall, their rib cages exposed from rot and their flesh boiling off their bones, these beasts bore riders with spears that could puncture tree bases through and through, great wolves rose up on hind legs with their organs showing, plus many more. They tore through our barricades, my clutch and I grabbed our spears and went to met the enemy. All was lost, we knew it, but this was our home, our people, OUR families." The fire grew intense the more he got intense light casting through out the cavern.

"We hurled our weapons, our voices rose with the battle cries of our ancestors. I even threw myself at one of those great lizards, my spear gouging one of its tendons on the back of its heel, the beast twirled on its other leg and lunged with an open maw and a roar that would make any man cower in fear. But none of us cowered. IT WAS OUR HOME. And we fought like savages to keep it. I rolled to the side and brought my spear to bear as the beast narrowly missed closing it's jaws around me, with all the strength I could muster I slammed the tip into its jugular. That was the first victory we had, but we had already lost so much. I watched as my clutch mates fell, torn to pieces by creatures I dare not describe."

The male stopped talking, his demeanor had taken on a hopeless feel to it.

"We were pushed back to the center of the village, me and a handful of other hunters and warriors, my wife and unborn child among them. I took her into my arms, I can still feel the fear and pride that coursed through her in those last moments." A small smiled tugged at his lips. "That's when everything just stopped, the screams of terror, the roar of charging beasts even the sounds of the storm riding on the curtails of this invading threat ceased. My wife looked up at me from the comfort of my arms, her eyes glowing like the sun in the sky at mid day. Upon her forehead was a symbol I had never known, these words she spoke to me."

'Great Hunter Itchya'Kel, you have shown considerable bravery and courage in these dark times. I come to you in your time of peril, against all the Gods wishes to make you a pact. Long ago, there was a being, an entity that watched over all of creation, his light reached many worlds and many stars. He spread these same beliefs to all his light touched.'

"I remember her eyes drifting past mine to gaze up at the last vestiges of light from the sun could be seen, I followed her gaze and listened to her speak."

'However he has long disappeared from this world, seeing the pettiness of the other gods and how they warred with one another over things that did not matter, he bestowed upon me the key to one man's salvation. I believe that man is you, you wish to save your people, to vanquish this darkness from your land and halt it's advance on other world's, do you not?'

"I had wasted no time in saying yes, my family, my home, my people. I would have done anything to see them safe." He had said lowering his head before the roaring fires. "She warned me that if I accepted that there would be a price to pay, a price that would way heavily on me for thousands of years. But, what choice was there? What price wasn't worth paying to save my people? So I agreed. That's when she grasped my cheek and kissed my forehead, it had been a sensation I had only felt on the hottest of summer days, time had resumed, my wife collapsed to the ground gently as I helped her. I steeped away feeling hot as flames began to lick at my skin, my clothes burned off immediately. But through all this I felt nothing, only hope welling in my chest." Before the winter spirit he conjured a ball of sunfire, divine waves radiating from the silver white ball of energy. "It hadn't taken long to discover what I could do, it was like I had done it all before. I flew easily, engulfed my enemies in in divine fire, I cleansed the land with beams of light,it all came so naturally. My followers changed my name Une Evia dun Solaria." He looked up at her and smiled though it was one of sadness. "The God of Many Suns. I felt their power becoming my power as I pushed the darkness back from the land. The day had been won, I stood at the center of the village I had saved I thanked them for their service,I wished them happiness under the sun, I told them to bask in the light I shed and to never fear the dark. And when a woman rushed up to me I kissed her forehead and blessed her unborn children, her confusion had baffled me at first. It took eons for me to realize that I had no memory of my wife or why those people called me Itchya'Kel, for I was Solaris the God of Many Suns. The price was my humanity, they accepted that their friend, their mate, their hero had ascended to to the plains of the Gods. I did what I had to do."

He stood up and looked out past the spirits form to the world outside the cave they sat in, the cave he hid in all these Millenia. "But that's not the end of my tale, my position among the warring factions of the Gods was tenuous, they saw me as an interloper, and back then I didn't have my humanity to temper the fires of my pride. I made a lot of mistakes. Chief among them was calling my self The Sun God. Apollo, Ra, Amaterasu and many others claiming to be of the sun didn't much like this claim, especially from one who was human once. I was young and powerful, my pride was boundless when they each brought their armies down upon me I fought, and I won. Their armies lay scattered their bodies brought to my alter, I ripped their titles, their mantels of power from their heavenly hosts and absorbed it into mine. And to this day I regret it very much, in doing so I lost Ally's to battle the darkness. It wears at you after a while, gnawing at your conscience, the other Gods don't suffer the same as I do, they don't know what it's like to be human, that's why I secluded myself here for so long, I come out from time to time, go where I'm needed, battle the darkness. The name Solaris is barely whispered now and that's the way I want it to stay, no one should believe in me for the atrocities I've committed. So that's my tale, that's how I became the God of Suns."

He smiled sadly and turned snuffing out the fire and letting the cold creep back into the cave.

Death of a God
Current mood:  peaceful

The brutal attack sent Solaris flying into the side of the mountain his imprint within the solid stone Bagan to crumble around him. He let out a strangled cry of pain as the wounds on his chest arms and legs oozed super white hot plasma. The Destroyer appeared before him slamming his fist into Solaris's solar plexus so hard that ribs broke and the same white substance ejected from his mouth spewing over his opponents forearm doing little to dissuade another rapid assault of punches into the same area. The God's cries echoed out into the world for all to hear as every solid pinch drove him deeper into the mountain side. Reaching in the Destroyer's massive hand grabbed the Divine Sun beings head and ripped him free of his self annointed tombstone. "You are hardly worth my time." Growled the behemoth called Entropy rattled on. Solaris was no slouch in battle, his gifts amazing and spectacular to witness, he had saved countless realms, countless world's from corruption, from evil. But now he had met his match, in order to save his friends throughout every universe, every time period he had ever visited, he would have to die. The juggernaut squeezed his hand around the Gods head causing intense bone crushing pain to shoot down his spine causing him to scream. Entropy raised the deity off the ground and slammed him into the mountain over and over and over again, this caused the Earth shake to the very core, forests started to topple, the earth began to split, even the mountains foundation began to crumble. Entropy's final slam of Solaris into the ground left Solaris laying in a pool of his own divine lifeblood. The twenty four foot destroyer released the God to let him suffer in his defeat. The deity's breath rattled as his starblood pooled in the corner of his eyes and rolled down his cheeks, the same white hot liquid pouring out of his nose. Entropy lifted his foot and slammed it into the God's chest deepening the crater around Solaris. "This is the multiverse's mightiest warrior? Pathetic." Entropy ground his foot into Solaris's chest and raised his hand to the sky, everyplace he had visited would bear witness to his demise, as every world's skies would show Solaris laying mangled under the boot of something superior. Men, women, children, races of all kinds would lift their faces to the scene above. Shocked cries and gasps would echo throughout the multiverse. Entropy would grin as he slammed his foot into the God's chest one more time. His garbled blood curdling cry could be heard now by all those lives he had touched. "Open your eyes Solaris, let them see the sorrow, let them see the defeat of their beloved God." Entropy reached his massive hand down around Solaris is arm and pressed his thumb against his shoulder while Entropy's foot was still against his chest, a loud thunderous pop echoed and another cry from the sun god ripped through the dead planet. "Any last words?" Entropy barked and removed his foot lifting the God into the air his hand wrapped around his throat ready to snap the deity's neck. Solaris was a mess, beaten mangled hanging in the air barely able to stay conscious. Yet instead of succumbing to the pain his chest heaved as he wheezed. He was laughing, it hurt more than anything. With immense effort he move his good arm up to Entropy's arm his hand gripping the Destroyer's wrist. "Only...one thing..." Starblood pouring out from every orifice and pore now one eye closed. "You...Talk...Too..." His fingers began to glow a bright white light that spread quickly down his arm, through his chest, engulfing his entire body in the blink of an eye. He never finished his sentence the only thing the inhabitants of the multiverse saw was the sudden explosion of light and the skies going back to normal. The ruptures Solaris had travelled through closed before everyone's eyes, permanently. Those who knew him best would mourn him harder than those who only knew him by name, even enemies of his would feel the sting. But one thing was known and felt, his memory would live on.
