Personality: Hailey is a bit of a prankster but she has a very kindhearted spirit. She chases after her dreams and is very carefree. She speaks her mind when necessary and she stands up for her friends. At times she can be a bit flirtatious, especially around her crush.
Past: Hailey grew up in a small town on Snowy Peak Island. Everyone knew each other in this town and there were many kids running around and playing in the snow. Every year there was a festival that took place where everyone brought gifts for each other, ate and danced the night away. Hailey was blessed enough to be living with both of her parents and older brother named Tevin. He always picked on her but she knew he did it out of love. They are two years apart but he always treated her like a child. This caused the girl to pull pranks on him and laugh when he'd get mad. He wasn't the only one though, she'd pull pranks on a lot of people in town. One day, she was at her Aunt Mary's house and the woman pulled out a strange, sparkling fruit. "here Hailey, eat this. It's a spell spell fruit and it will give you magical powers. Remember when you told me you wanted to become a real magician when you were a little girl? Now you can", her aunt spoke. Hailey was hesitant at first but ate it anyway at the age of 14. At first, she was scared of her powers but then she learned to control and harness them by using a magic wand her aunt helped her to create. She taught her everything she knew and even gave her a spell book so she could practice, learn and grow. Her aunt passed away a year later from a heart attack and caused Hailey a lot of grief. She was going to live out her dreams and make her aunt proud. She wanted to go on adventures and see the world before she decides to settle down to make a magic shop.
When she joined the Strawhats: This happened before the water 7 arc where Robin was taken by CP9. The crew was still sailing on the going merry before they got the thousand sunny.
How she joined the Strawhats: It was the time of the festival once again, but this time Hailey didn't have her aunt around so it just didn't feel the same. It actually caused her to be quite depressed. She sat out on a bench and watched everyone else have fun. Tevin walked over to her and shook his head. "there's no point in being depressed. Aunt Mary would want you to be happy and enjoy yourself you know", he told her. "it's not that easy", Hailey said. "Auntie Mary made one of my dreams come true and now I can't even repay her", she frowned and sulked. Before Tevin could say another word, a group of people caught his eye. People he hadn't seen before and who stuck out like sore thumbs due to the fact everyone knew each other. "who're they?", he mumbled, pointing over at them. Hailey got up and looked over at the pirate crew. "I don't know...but they seem pretty friendly", she decided to approach them up front. "Sanji, I'm hungryyyy! Where's the meat around here?!", Luffy shouted. "shut up you moron! Don't be so rude!", the cook shouted back. "excuse me, are you guys here for the festival?", Hailey asked, tilting her head to the side. "festival!? I didn't know this was a festival! Sure, we'd love to join! As long as there's food, especially meat!", Luffy grinned. Nami rolled her eyes. "please forgive him, he can be quite a handful at times", she told her. "you're really pretty, what's your name?", Chopper asked. Hailey blushed lightly, not used to receiving compliments. "o-oh, thank you. I'm Hailey, It's nice to meet you", she said. Then the others introduced themselves to her. "you know, being on the ship can be boring sometimes. We're looking for an entertainer of some kind to join our crew", Luffy spoke as he stretched his arm to grab a chicken leg off the table and started chowing down. "your crew?", Hailey asked. "yeah, we're pirates", he said with his mouth full. Tevin overheard the conversation and walked over. "well, my sister's a magician so I think she's a good candidate to join", he said smirking. "really!? A magician!? Can she do tricks and stuff!?", Luffy asked. Hailey nodded and smiled. "yeah, I can...but I don't know about being a pirate", she frowned. "oh come on, it'll be fun! We go on adventures all the time! You gotta join!", he was dead set on her joining. He was not going to leave that island without her! Even when she had turned him down initially, he tried every single day until she eventually said yes. And with that, she said goodbye to her family, packed her bags and set out to sea with them.
Crush: Luffy
Abilities: As a magician, she is able to cast spells and perform tricks. Against enemies she takes on the power of the elements and creates illusions to trick them. In order for her magic to work, she has to have enough mana to perform her spells. She replenishes her mana by drinking mana potions that she creates. For now, her magic wand is what channels this mana from her body and without it, she's pretty much useless since she hasn't learnt how to cast spells without it yet. When it's lost or broken, she has to invest time and money to make a new one. To get stronger, she practices basic spells until mastery level and focuses on expanding her maximum mana intake so she can do more powerful spells.
Dreams: To travel the world, meet interesting new people, master all the spells in the world and open a small magic shop where she'll sell mana, hats, wands, caps, etc.
Likes: polar bears, star gazing, hanging with friends, going on adventures and partying
Dislikes: marines, bugs, anyone who harms her friends, swimming (due to the fact she can't swim)
Fears: drowning, being shot, her friends dying, her crush falling in love with another girl
Side notes: She enjoys crafting magic wands in her spare time and sells them for money. Her hair changes color depending on the climate she's in as a side effect of the devil fruit. For instance she's from snowy peak, so her hair was snow white. In hot climates, her hair turns red. Her eyes remain olive green however. Once she masters her devil fruit powers completely, she won't need her wand anymore or mana. Right now the mana and wand just helps her channel her magical energy.
Weaknesses: Depending on the spell, the casting time varies. The stronger the spell, the more time it takes for her to cast it, which leaves her vulnerable for attacks. She also tends to get weak and become tired after doing huge spells that use a lot of her mana. This also happens when she does too many smaller spells within a short amount of time. Also, during the time that she needs her wand to cast spells in the first place, if the enemy can get the wand from her, she's useless. During the time that she no longer needs her wand nor mana to cast spells, it would be the casting time that's her weakness.
