The Sorceress
A witch of few words,
Ophelia Guinevere has a unique condition where each spoken word causes a fracture to further spread somewhere on her body; it can be inferred that with enough speaking, she would shatter completely. This is exactly how she lost her right eye. Further investigation shows she has fissures at each of her 4 elbows and along her spine.
Ophelia was once a normal girl. A reclusive bookworm with not a drop of magic in her blood, but enthralled with the study of it. Astronomy to astrology, illusion to evocation, alchemy to the elements, holy to demonic -- She was a glutton for knowledge. Her dedicated studies caught the attention of other worldly beings, and they waited patiently for the day for the human to give in to her cravings and summon one of them.
Of course, that day came, and she was immediately offered a bargain. She was granted the abilities to practice her studies -- The catch? Most spellwork is done via encantation. Ophelia quickly found that uttering anything, magic words or not, was enough to cause her body to literally break. Theoretically, the sorceress is capable of dooming the very world with the right spell, but likely at the cost of her life. Instead, Ophelia dives into her studies and masters the less convenient, nonverbal magics. Despite her curse, she's quite content with the circumstances, and lives out her days expanding her knowledge on the mysterious physics of the universe.
