11/19/2015 11:18 PM  Bleach Verse At the age of seventeen Maya Natsume found herself in the midst of a battle she did not have the ability to win or survive. She was saved by her younger sister Aya Natsume who possessed the Dragon's Eye (The ability to see through all things). Aya's abilities and Maya's possession of the infamous blade known as Reiki allowed Maya to unlock to powers within the blade and defeat her opponent. However, Reiki had absorbed all of Maya's ki leaving Maya's body alive; but empty. Her essence or life force was trapped within Reiki. Maya's sister and close friends kept her alive in the hospital attempting to find a way to return her essence to her body; though known could find a way. Several weeks later Souichiro Nagi's mother claimed to be able to perform the spell that would reunite Maya's essence with her body. Makiko Nagi knew that Maya's special abilities would be needed to defeat a dangerous enemy in the future and without telling anyone of the consequences she performed the spell pulling Maya's essence out of the blade and returning it to her body. Makiko died in the process. Although Maya told everyone she felt perfectly normal and appeared to have no side effects from the spell; Maya began to notice several differences. The first being her constant awareness of Reiki, as though she could feel the blade's presence no matter where it was. As Maya continued to discover this new found connection to the Nodachi she began to learn new abilities were now open to her including the Amaterasu Dragon's Gate. As time passed the threat, foreseen by Makiko Nagi, finally appeared and threw the founding families into an unexpected war of past, present, and future. When the dust had finally settled and enemy defeated Maya was one of the few among the casualties. Her death was unacceptable to a particular individual whose relationship with Maya had always been a cause for gossip and mystery. Mitsuomi Takayangi knew Maya better than anyone and was one of the few she had ever confided in. Aware of her connection with Reiki from her last near death experience; Mitsuomi stole the Natsume heirloom and searched until he found a way to bring her back. This second awakening was much more difficult as Maya was actually dead this time and her soul had to be pulled from the other side. Time had no sense wherever she had been and although she could not remember the place she had sensed that she had been at peace. Re-acclimating to the living world had been much more difficult this time around. Maya also discovered several odd things as well. Being pulled back from true death left her with the ability to see, touch, and communicate with spirits. She would soon come to discover the depth of this ability as she met not only good spirits but terrible monsters that fed upon these spirits. She found herself fighting off these monsters to protect not only herself but other spirits. During one of these battles she also discovered the existence of Shinigami when one appeared and saved her from a particularly powerful monster. This man was Byakuya Kuchiki. Byakuya took an immediate interest in Maya after discovering she was only human and yet could see spirits and actually fight the monsters she came across. He taught her that these monsters were known as Hollows, he explained about Shinigami and their purpose in this world, though he never mentioned the Soul Society as he realized she had no memory of her time there. Byakuya became Maya's mentor and Sensei and was increasingly interested in her connection with her blade. It was so similar to what the Shinigami shared with their own blades that he was able to train her how to communicate with Reiki. After years of training Maya was able to master communicating with Reiki as well as develop new abilities they could perform together giving Maya the alias "The Blood Rose". 02/09/2015 03:02 PM  Techniques & Abilities Basics: Martial arts & Swordplay Maya fights using a style invented by her family, Natsume Goushin-Ryū. ◾Uraate (裏当て; lit. "Backing", CMX Translation: "Reverse Striking"): This is fulcrum-based transference skill, an example of KI transmission that teaches one to shift the point and force of impact by striking the dead center of an object. At expert-levels, a practitioner can transmit the force of impact wherever they please, as long as a medium exists to transmit their power through. This technique forms the basis for most KI-based techniques used throughout the series. ◾Natsume-Style Form Refinement: A body manipulation technique. It allows Maya to take the shape of an 8 year old girl to conserve her KI. Her ancient ancestor (with the same name as her sister), the feudal era Aya Natsume used a similar technique to have the opposite effect of allowing her to appear as an adult despite only being 9 years old. ◾Natsume Goushin-Ryū Kongou Hasshiki: Taizan Hougou (CMX translation: Natsume-Style Advanced Exercise, 8th Degree: Mt. Tai Demolishing Roar): A technique which uses "reverse striking" transference through a stiff-shoulder charge to shift the force and impact of the blow over a distant, demolishing most anything upon impact with its pressure wave. ◾Natsume Goushin-Ryū Kongou Hasshiki: Renkan Tenpen Tetsukageki (CMX translation: Natsume-Style, Advanced Exercise, 8th Degree: Linking Heavenly Iron Attack): This move is a set of precise, bone-crushing blows. ◾Natsume Goushin-Ryū: Radotenko (棗剛真流 羅どう天靠, CMX translation: Natsume-Style: Eye-connecting Heavenly Twist): A technique combining a fierce shoulder charge with an immediate release of KI upon impact that sends the opponent flying backwards. ◾Natsume Goushin-Ryu: Tsuba Otoshi (棗剛真流鍔落とし, CMX translation: The Natsume Sword Handle Drop): A sword-technique that puts emphasis on the handle while dealing an overhead swing, upping the cutting force of the blade. ◾Tetsushikō (Iron Finger): Known to be a particularly lethal technique. Using one finger, the user punches through the muscle and directly striking the internal organs, particularly the liver. ◾Ryukei Qigong Tashinkō (龍形気功鍛針功; lit. "Dragon Qi, Forged Iron Needle") The Takayanagi family's greatest secret technique, one of the technique of the so-called Hatsukei, or "power release". Utilizing the skill "Uraate", the user can transmit their power through the air itself. The first step is collecting the constantly accelerating rotational force that begins from the feet on up, until it is forged into a needle using their KI. Next, this honed, atmospheric force is redirected from the circular motion to a straight line (via punch), and sent barreling into the target. Mitsuomi  taught this technique to her, during their blossoming relationship. ◾Ryukei Qigong Tashikou: Shiryū Enretsu Sen (龍形氣功鍛針功*四龍炎裂孅, CMX translation: Dragon-Ki Qigong Forged Needle: Four Flaming Raging Dragons' Massacre): A Triple Forged Needle combi-attack, which incorporates her Forged Needle with Souichiro's in addition to Mitsuomi's Twin King Dragon Flame Strike, producing an all-consuming, four-headed dragon of KI. The Looping Blue Wood DragonEdit Maya's Dragon's Gate is associated with the element wood, allowing anything made of wood to become a weapon for her. She even uses this power to make her necktie into a wooden blade. Amaterasu dragons gate Recently Maya had the symbol for the Amaterasu Dragon's Gate appear on her chest. The gate has the ability to neutralize all special powers. A person with the Amaterasu Gate is only born once every thousand years, the last being Senhime four-hundred years ago. While nearly everyone's energy flows in a clockwise pattern, the holder of the Amaterasu Dragon's Gate is opposite - their power flows counter-clockwise. Maya's interactions with the Reiki (which gets its power from Himiko Amaterasu imbuing it with her power) and her eventual attempt to give her life to it in turn imbued Maya with the Amaterasu Dragon's Gate 600 years earlier than it should have appeared. Bunshichi speculates that Maya's gradual assimilation of the Amaterasu Dragon's Gate from the Reiki is why she was able to calm Shin down so easily by subtly nullifying his power. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other: The Blood Rose Maya's alias as 'The Blood Rose' comes from her spiritual and physical connection with Reiki/Iyo Natsume. Maya's soul having once been completely absorbed by the nodachi and released some time later left a residual connection between Maya and the blade. Where before Maya was unable to activate or communicate with Iyo the two are now eternally connected. Sharing mind, bodies, and souls as partners, the two are able to collect and manipulate their own blood to utilize as a weapon or quicken the healing process of their own injuries. Making physical contact with another beings blood will allow them to analyze and use the targets blood for their own use.  Blood Needles: Utilizing the iron needle attack combined with blood manipulation the ki needles become encased in a layer of blood.  Healing: manipulating their own blood allows the potential to accelerate the healing process Blood Shield: Blood is hardened to be utilized as a defense 0 Comments  Report Post
