[RP Advice] Never Hate The Admin (Character Dislike)

I’m starting to see this make a comeback and I do not like it.

It should not matter what character the Admin chooses to muse. Your dislike for a character should NEVER pertain to the Admin themselves. I see many RPers upset that their character choices are hated upon the community, and are never given a chance simply because someone has a strong dislike for that character. Please remember, there is a real person on the other side of the screen.

Back when I was musing KH characters, I was called Mary-Sue a lot for musing Xion. Not many would interact with me because of my choice of character. I love the character deeply but many did not, as a result; I had hate mail and told I was weak and that I should stop RPing or change characters. Nonetheless for a short time it did strike me, until I spoke up and told people not to hate me for my character.

Do not take your dislike of a character, onto the Admin who is portraying them. Not only is it immature, but it truly knocks down someone’s self-esteem into making them think they’re a bad RPer altogether. Instead of flashing your negativity onto them, simply encourage them into their muse, no matter how much YOU dislike it. Their muse means everything to them and for many, that muse you dislike is how they got their start into RP.

If YOU dislike a character THAT much to where you take it out on the Admin, then why are you even a RolePlayer? your dislike for a character should not equal your dislike for the Admin, simply put. You need to ask yourself how you would feel if someone took their dislike onto you as an Admin for your choice in character. I myself have characters I dislike, but never would I address it to the Admin.

Please think about this the next time you are approached by a character you dislike. If you don’t wish to RP with them, kindly tell them, don’t make them feel awful about their choice.
