Kaitoko attended Ekoda High School Class 2-B as a second year. ((I can play her as a college student, trying to get an Art major in Theater (AU)). She discovered while in high school that her father's identity was the original Kaito Kid after eight years following his death thanks to a secret room inside her house as well as talking with her father's attendant and friend, Konosuke Jii. Picking up where her father left off, Kaitoko took up and still takes up the mantle of Kaito Kid in an effort to lure out her father's murderers by making Kid a world-famous thief once again. She staged several high-profile jewel heists to smoke out his father's killers when she first started, although she seemed to be enjoying herself in the process. It wasn't until the Blue Birthday heist that the murderers appeared and revealed that they were searching for the double red-coloured gem Pandora, which was said to shed tears of immortality during the passing of a particular comet. Upon realizing the organization's aim and that her father was killed for her refusal to aid them in retrieving Pandora, Kaitoko vowed as Kaitou Kid to find the Pandora gem first and destroy it. (The only way the Pandora gem can be found is if the holder holds the gem up to a full moon, which is why Kaito Kid only stages her heists on a full moon after sending out her calling card with a message as to what day, what time, where, and the gem she'll be stealing.)

Kaitoko as her normal self seems to be rather popular in school, although she tends to get in trouble with staring at males she likes. She is a trickster who loves to demonstrate her magic tricks and share them with others, and she hates to see people upset. She's honest but tends to hide behind a poker face. As Kaito Kid (and similar to her civilian persona), she's a compulsive magician who is drawn to any challenge just for the sheer thrill of overcoming all hazards in the end. Kid is infamous for having a rather overconfident (close to the point of arrogance) attitude, always preferring to create as big a bang as possible. She loves nothing more than leading the police in wild goose chases, letting them get within a hair's breadth of catching her, before exiting one way or another. Seemingly having a soft spot for her fans, there have been more than one occasion when Kid refused to show up when the police tried to bar the general public from witnessing her act. Generally, when these instances occur, one of Kid's tricks relies, one way or another, on her ability to blend in with a crowd. She's also quite a charmer. Kid hates to see others get hurt, and she never hesitates in leaping to rescue someone, whether physically or mentally. Despite her low reputation in some quarters, Kid does have a sense of honor, in as much as that she decides to leave the loot behind if it has no further purpose other than having challenged his trickster skills, doesn't contain Pandora, or when a more humane background stands behind their existence. These qualities are some of the reasons why she and Conan Edogawa occasionally end up as allies in a common cause.
