Ami Aoki, a 23 year old independent shop owner, has made it her life goal to build up a welcoming local café of her very own. When she was a little girl, her mother, Mei, had always talked about having her own restaurant. Having remembered all of her dear mother’s stories about how she would decorate the inside, what food and drinks she would sell, even what candles she would light, Ami didn’t dare let herself forget seeing how happy it made her.
When Ami was only 9, Mei had lost her life after three years of battling breast cancer. Having been under the impression that she was going to live, Ami mourned the loss of her mother for almost an entire year before she was able to move on. She decided to finally do something about all of her emotions and put them into something more abrasive; bringing her mommas dream to life. Ami was only 11 when she began taking her life more seriously, becoming aware that the privilege of being healthy could be taken away all too fast. She spent her teen years learning how to bake all the recipes she was able to retrieve from her late mothers book, wanting everything to be as perfect as possible. Now at 23, Ami is finally able to say that she proudly owns her own café.
