Michael, or also known as Cain is a rather old vampire. The reason why he changed his name, was because he was mistaken for the son of an old woman. The two had a similar appearance, though the old woman mentally couldn't see Cain wasn't her son. Cain had actually killed the old woman's son, having fed from him to heal his injuries. Cain who continued on as Michael stayed with the old woman. He pretended to be her son, even treated her as if she were his own mother. When the woman died, Michael traveled around the world and kept his new name.
