Kaori Mitsukai
Kaori Mitsukai was born of a desire to create an original character for a Naruto role play on MySpace.com some 17 years ago! Since that time Kaori has grown into something and someone who is nothing like those roots of old and as some of you may attest to it, that’s a good thing!
Today Kaori is a warrior without a war, no standard to bear nor a patron to follow. She is Ronnin and she has been wandering the multi-verse in search of absolution in the form of the soul of her dead lover; Hiro. Throughout her travels she has marveled at the birth of stars and the death of entire galaxies but despite all of her experiences she is still incomplete.
Background
Kaori has grown far beyond the confines of her humble beginnings over the past 16 years of writing about her and her exploits. During that whole time Kaori morphed into a truly original character spanning countless dimensions and experiencing a multitude of different timeframes and eras throughout her travels.
Starting within the Naruto-verse, Kaori Mitsukai grew up in Konoha but didn’t hail from there originally. Despite not being a native, Kaori managed to integrate quite well and got along with her peers more often than not. It was the death of her partner and lover that catapulted her into her destiny and beyond.
Seeking vengeance, Kaori pursued the murderer across countless dimensions, experiencing worlds so alien and exotic all while staying the course. Now that vengeance has been served, Kaori returned once again to her “home” and things have only now just become interesting…
Personality
The note of the perfect personality is not rebellion, but peace.
Once known far and wide for being a royal bitch, Kaori has more than simmered down as she’s grown older and far wiser than she ever anticipated-it has been 17 years after all. Through her travels she learned the lesson of patience and perseverance which in turn hardened and tempered her psyche. She emerged a lady of substance, of understanding and even compassion and empathy, but be warned; do not confuse her kindness today with weakness of any kind. Kaori is far more than what she lets on and this is of course done on purpose. Never let “them” know too much about you or suffer the consequences!
Today Kaori’s focus has been placed upon earning the trust and respect of those she turned her back on so very long ago. It was selfishness that drove her in the past and in this moment it is regret and a great desire to show those she considers family that she truly does love and care for them despite her actions in the past. Her journey is a lonely one but one with great potential for a very happy ending. And it’s that thought in which Kaori draws comfort and her commitment to her word that she is worthy of love and forgiveness.
Appearance
Kaori stands five feet, two inches and weighs about one hundred and fifteen pounds. With an almost porcelain –like skin, raven-black hair that’s typically kept in a ponytail and deep emerald green eyes, Kaori is certainly an anomaly amongst her peers. She carries herself with purpose and determination yet rarely crosses her arms as that’s a sign of defense which of course makes one appear weak before a potential enemy. Kaori prefers a stern or direct stance yet somewhat relaxed. She doesn’t want to appear domineering yet she does wish to convey the silent message that she knows who and what she is without any reservations and that alone can be a very intimidating thing for many people, especially when it comes from such a petite girl like Kaori. Usually, but not always, Kaori can be seen sporting a smirk of some kind. More often than not something has tickled her fancy and she thought light of the situation though she’ll rarely jest openly about it. That kind of behavior is often reserved for more private moments when she’s alone with close friends and family if ever.
Thanks to her experiences, Kaori spends a great deal of time in quiet contemplation. Her thoughts drift from one topic to the next quite often and these keep her mentally occupied while she ponders her place in the universe now that her mission is finally complete after all these years.
Abilities
Kaori was an orphan and found near death as a young child outside Konoha at what the doctors guessed was around age three. She was taken in by the Mitsukai family and although she was an outsider she quickly adapted to life in the village. Showing great potential to become a shinobi Kaori eventually applied for and was accepted into the Ninja Academy. She continued to excell in her studies and even made quite a few good friends along the way. Constantly focusing on her growing abilities Kaori eventually graduates at the top of her class.
Against the wishes of the Hokage, Kaori fell in love with and secretly married a fellow Ninja named Hiro. On the night of their wedding, Hiro was murdered by an interdimensional traveling man in black who would soon become the target of Kaori's over decade long journey toward revenge. Strangely enough, when Kaori had finally enacted her revenge she returned to Konoha only to find that she had been gone for only a day by their reckoning!
Kaori later paticipated in the defense of Konoha against Pain, was killed and later ressurected along with others who befell the same fate. She fought along side the likes of Kakashi Hatake and Naruto Uzumaki during the Fourth Shinobi World War rising to the rank of Jonin.
Chakra and Physical Prowess
Kaori seemed to possess a moderate chakra pool growing up fairing well enough against multiple combatants up until her departure. During her ten year journey she found within her a wellspring of chakra, nothing by comparison to the likes of Naruto or even Kakashi but still more than she had ever expected. She believes it may be directly related to the blood of Amber though that theory has yet to be put to the test.
Taijutsu
Kaori primarily relies on her great skill and knowledge of Taijutsu during combat. Kaori's taijutsu can take various approaches in close combat. During her time on her journey she learned to approach enemies from behind totally unnoticed by even advanced Ninja. She learned to become comfortable with attacking from the front, striking with blazing speed and debilitating precision to quickly defeat multiple enemies. Kaori consistantly exhibits a strength that far outweighs her perceived potential with refelexes sharp enough to block most attacks that she cannot even see.
Ninjutsu
Being an orphan it was quite difficult to judge Kaori's clan and still to this day she can only guess but it's rumored she may have originally hailed from the Land of Water. Despite this setback, she managed to excell with Water Release as well as possessing a Lightning Release affinity. Kaori tends to resort to Ninjutsu when her Taijutsu attacks appear to fail.
Blood of Amber
Nearly 14 years ago, toward the end of RP on MySpace, Kaori was involved in a rather unique and quite impressive RP storyline that spanned several months in real time. There were probably about 20 to 30 of us all contributing to this RP and boy was it amazing! The RP itself was a storyline based off of the Amber series, a multi-book romp through the megaverse with the direct forces of good and evil clashing but unfortunately not all things in Amber are black and white…
It was through this RP that Kaori was able to uncover some of her past that had been hidden from her for far too long. Although she were forced with the intention that she would not survive, Kaori walked the pattern in Amber and much to the amazement of all in attendance, Kaori did not in fact die but rather survived only to prove that she carries the blood of Amber within her!
Successfully walking the pattern grants the walker many gifts, most of which are pointless to mention without the proper tools and frankly, Kaori will most likely NEVER, EVER get her hands on those tools, so… moving on! For our purposes, the gifts bestowed upon Kaori were; Shadow Walking and Immortality.

Shadow Walking
Shadow Walking is a term used by those with the gift to describe the ability to traverse the megaverse from one dimension to another. It's a rather slow process as the user can only alter one aspect of the place they're currently in at a time. What does that mean? Well, imagine you're at your home, your backyard or local park and you want to Shadow Walk to Central Park in New York City. Both areas have grass, so you're good there but only Central Park is surrounded by large buildings. Furthermore, the tress where you're at are not like the tress in Central Park. So there's two things you'll need to alter in order to Shadow Walk to Central Park.
So you take a step. In that step you choose to swap the trees near you to the types of trees in Central Park. Done. Now you have to swap the surroundings with the buildings surrounding Central Park. Okay, you take another step and do just that, mentally swap the current surroundings with those of Central Park. After that step, you're in Central Park. And that's how Shadow Walking works, more or less. Can this ability be used during an RP? Yes and no. Yes if it's a story-based rp, no in combat, peroid.
Immortality
Immortality… when people see this word in our community a great majority of them instantly balk at it and grow very negative very quickly, well, it’s my hope that I’ll dismiss some of that angst if not all of it right here and now:
In the context of our community Immortality only pertains to the idea that Kaori cannot die of old age. She will forever appear to be in her 20’s while she’ll continue to grow both mentally and emotionally. Can she die through other means? Why yes, yes she can! How? Easy… how can you die? That’s how. So you see, although Kaori will never, ever croak of natural causes, she can certainly be ran through, shot, tossed out of an airplane without a cute, you get the idea.
