The tales are true, the tyrant King Sombra had a bastard son with a bat mare. T'was upon a weary night during a harvest blood moon. His name was Dark star. What was expected to become a monster in the shadow of his father, Dark Star instead became a hero in the eyes of his bat pony kin, leading them away from the old ruins of the Everfree Forest to a new promised kingdom in the high peeks of Rambling Rock Ridge.
Early on his adulthood, Dark Star would be crowned king of the bat ponies and rule an independent kingdom in the south east. Self conscious of his "divine" genetic mutations, Dark star feared the majority of Equestria would see him as dangerous and unorthodox. To protect his subects, Dark Star strictly outlawed any outsiders within his walls with only a few exceptions.
